It’s coming! Promise. :)

I’m uploading some pics I took while in NY to share with you!

How did we do with our last book club selections — your choice of PERFECT FOR THE BEACH or OUT OF THIS WORLD?

I read PERFECT FOR THE BEACH and I have OUT OF THIS WORLD coming now. I’m thinking that I really liked the combination of anthology and ST, so maybe we should keep it that way as well as mixing the genres?

K, now I’m going to get those pics ready…

***UPDATE***

I’ve got a couple photos of Kate Duffy’s office on my blog today: www.sylviaday.com/blog/ I’ll be sending them to the BravaAuthors.com webmistress to add to the photo blog here on the site. (Have you checked that out lately?)

So … How’d we do? :)

Out of this World by Jill Shalvis came up a couple times, so that will be one of our selections over the next month.

I’m also in the mood for an anthology, so I thought maybe PERFECT FOR THE BEACH — Lori Foster, Janelle Denison, Erin McCarthy, MaryJanice Davidson, Kayla Perrin, Morgan Leigh — might be nice. (PftB is also available in mass market)

Sound good to y’all?

Book Club #4

There have been some comments to me about two books a month being too much for a lot of participants to keep up with. So we’re going to taper it down to one Book Club selection a month. Yes, this means only one winner a month as opposed to two, but I understand that schedules and wallets are tight. This will also allow more time for the Canadian winners to receive their books. We’ve had two Canadian winners so far and both had long waits for their books to arrive. :) We’ll continue with Katherine O’Neal’s THE ART OF SEDUCTION until the next meeting of the club.

If you’ve read it and would like to comment on it, please do. Also I’d love to hear your recommendations for next month’s book — genre, anthology or not, etc.

Book Club #3

Did you finish All Through the Night? What did you think?

I admit, some of the heroes surprised me. Balls-to-the-wall committed to getting their girl, no matter what. *g* One of the great things about multi-author anthologies is the variations in styles. I really enjoyed the dynamic of these four authors together in one volume.

Book Club #3 will be a historical, a new one by Katherine O’Neal — THE ART OF SEDUCTION (Feb. 07 Brava). As is the usual, one of this week’s participants will receive a free copy of the Book Club Selection.

What should we read next? An older title, since next club is a new release.

And if you haven’t yet, you can sign up to be notified when a Book Club post goes up, by filling out the form below.

So, let’s hear what y’all thought of this latest selection!

How did you all enjoy THE SEX ON THE BEACH BOOK CLUB?

Then, what should we read next? Book Club #3 will be a historical, a new one by Katherine O’Neal — THE ART OF SEDUCTION (Feb. 07 Brava). Just an FYI, in case that affects what you’d like to pick this week as Book Club selection #2.

As will be the usual, one of this week’s participants will receive a free copy of the Book Club Selection, whatever we pick.

And, as this late post so aptly demonstrates, I may be behind the times occasionally, so I offer the subscription service below. You can sign up to be notified when a Book Club post goes up!

Reading Together

Friday, January 5th, 2007
Sylvia Day Icon

I’ve lost a lot of reading time this last year due to writing commitments and I miss it. A lot. I was sitting here tonight trying to think of how I can fit reading back into my life, because really, writers have to read. It’s what makes us tick — our love of reading.

So then I came over here to post my bi-monthly blog post and an idea hit me. What if we do a Brava Book Club here on the blog? We’ll pick one Brava release, read it, then check in two weeks later when I come back to blog. Every time I blog I’ll pick one participant to win a copy of the book we’re talking about next time. I’ll ship the book to the winner via Priority Mail, affording plenty of time to read the book before the next blog.

It would be totally informal and (hopefully!) a lot of fun. When we check in, we could answer the following questions:

SD Book ClubSimple, right? Are you game? If so, we can start this week by picking a book. I’ll be back to blog on Monday, January 22 and we can weigh in on it then. I can also set up a little reminder email. Would you be interested in participating?

Happy Birthday!

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006
Sylvia Day Icon

Since it’s the day after Christmas and I think some of us might be recovering from the food/family/frenzy, I thought I’d take it easy and post an excerpt from THE STRANGER I MARRIED, which released today!! Yay! I’m so excited about this new release, because I really love this story a lot. Here’s the backcover blurb:

Lady Pelham could not have designed a husband more suited to her needs. The Marquess of Grayson is a dear and enchanting friend and an unrepentant ladies’ man. Their union is solid; their hearts safe from one another. But every marriage has its surprises…

They Were Together For All The Wrong Reasons…

They are London’s most scandalous couple. Isabel, Lady Pelham, and Gerard Faulkner, Marquess of Grayson, are well matched in all things—their lusty appetites, constant paramours, wicked wits, provocative reputations, and their absolute refusal ever to ruin their marriage of convenience by falling in love with one another. Isabel knows such a charming rake will never appeal to her guarded heart, nor will she sway his philandering one. It is a most agreeable sham…until a shocking turn of events sends Gerard from her side.

Now, four years later, Gerard has come home to Isabel. But the carefree, boyish rogue who left has been replaced by a brooding, powerful, irresistible man who is determined to seduce his way into her affections. Gone is the devil-may-care companion who shared her friendship and nothing more, and in his place is temptation itself…a husband who desires Isabel body and soul and who will stop at nothing to win her love. No, this is not at all the man she had married. But he is the man who might finally steal her heart…

Thursday Thirteen…

…Brava style. :) Since I’m blogging over here today, rather than at my blog, I thought I’d bring my TT over with me.

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Things I Love About Brava Books

1.) The covers! They’re fabulous.

2.) The readers! They’re beyond fabulous. Extremely loyal and enthusiastic. I think Brava has the best readers. :)

3.) The writers! From debut authors to New York Times bestsellers, Brava has a remarkable range of talent, styles, and sensuality levels. There is always something to fit my mood. (and the authors are simply great people to know. I’ve enjoyed every one of the Brava authors I’ve met)

4.) The website! Lots of great content here. (Have you seen everything yet?)

5.) The length of the stories. Many lines and imprints have shortened their word counts. Brava still gives readers full-length books.

6.) The sex! From mildly steamy to equatorial hot, Brava covers the gamut.

7.) The genres–light romantic comedy, westerns, action/adventure, romantic suspense, paranormal, multi-cultural, historicals, mysteries…you name it, Brava probably has it.

8.) The editors. Creative freedom. What a gift!

9.) The surprises! Because of #8, I continue to find that Brava books surprise me. There’s no mold.

10.) The Bad Boys. Yum.

11.) The promise — Happily Ever After guaranteed.

12.) The holiday themed anthologies!

13.) …

So, what did I miss? Tell me something you love about Brava books that I didn’t mention above and you’ll be entered in a drawing to win my December 26 release THE STRANGER I MARRIED. I’ll ship it out Priority Mail, so you’ll get it before it hits the shelves!
