Update: Congrats to Janie McGaugh! Her name was picked in the random drawing and she’ll receive Mia’s TOUCH OF A LADY in her choice of Kindle or Nook formats!
This weekend, the DH and I are planning a getaway to a lake resort in northern Minnesota. Since we honeymooned in the north woods, the crisp pine-scented air and the cries of loons say ‘young love’ to me. We’re looking forward to walking the lake shore, enjoying the fall colors and cuddling by the fire.
Of course, we’re joining his siblings at this resort so part of the time will be spent with others. My sister-in-law has arranged for a spa day for the girls. I have no clue what the guys will be doing while we’re being pampered. I suspect football will feature prominently.
But the DH and I have our own plans to slip away from the group for some ‘alone time.’
In a way, this weekend reminds me of the Georgian house party that’s the setting for TOUCH OF A LADY. My hero Tristan has a devil of a time finding ways to be alone with Delphinia, the girl who’s captured his heart, but with a bit of skullduggery, he manages some inventive trysting places–like a fortune teller’s tent, a large wardrobe, and a grotto in the center of a maze. Love is where you find it!
THE GIVEAWAY!
If you’d like a little armchair getaway this weekend, I’m offering a chance to win a Kindle or Nook version of TOUCH OF A LADY. the prequel to my Touch of Seduction series, to a randomly selected commenter.
All you have to do is share your favorite getaway spot. It doesn’t even have to be someplace you’ve been. It can be a dream getaway, some place you’d like to go.
Looking forward to hearing from YOU!

Husband & I went to the florida keys last year. We loved it. Had a terrific time. One of the big bonuses of the kids growing up is being able to go away like that, just the two of us.
Never been to the Keys, but I’ve heard they’re beautiful.
I do not travel much, but I have enjoyed cruising in the Caribbean… love the Ocean views… One day I hope to visit Hawaii, Alaska, & Ireland. Have a wonderful trip!
Thanks, Colleen. I too am addicted to cruising. I used to be a total mountain girl, but now it’s hard to think of a landlocked vacation as a vacation. Fortunately, being close to a lake helps.
I love Hong Kong – it’s so nice to see the relatives and the food is wonderful.
I bet HongKong is fascinating. Are you at all close to there? One of the fun things about traveling to Tokyo last February was hearing news from Asia and Australia on the TV. Here in the US, we get pretty focused on our own doings.
An Alaskan cruise
I’ve been on one to the Bahamas, but I’m DYING to go on one to Alaska
We got to go to Alaska in 2007 with my parents. My dad had talked about visiting there since I was a kid. It was such a treat to watch a pod of orcas in the early morning mist swimming alongside the cruise ship.
I have always wanted to go to Tahiti.. so exotic and beautiful. Maybe one day but right now it’s on the dream radar
Your getaway sounds fabulous! Bet the fall colors will be beautiful this time of the year. Have lots of fun!!!
Ooo, Tahiti! Another spot on my “must visit someday” list!
A long getaway! Start with a busy, fun Alaskan cruise and then some alone time in a more private area of the state. Always wanted to see Denali! :
When we cruised to Alaska, we only did the inside passage. Denali sounds wonderful.
I owuld love to go island hopping sailing the Carribean. It has been something we have talked about for a few years about doing when we finally have all the kids out of the house.
Do you have a sailboat, Ora? Your plan sounds so romantic.
We are saving to buy another boat so we can have our little adventure in a few years.
Oh forgot to mention earlier I laready have Touch of a Lady.
Mia, I live in Massachusetts, so it takes a day to fly to Hong Kong. My relatives insist on taking time off from work when we visit, so planning the trip can take awhile.
Sounds like quite an adventure… and a very long plane ride. Our trip to Japan last February was the longest trip we’ve ever taken. How often do you manage it?

Sometimes planning and anticipating the trip is half the fun!
A cabin in the woods is a great giveaway when I just want some peaceful time away. My ultimate vacation, however, would be to Scotland or New Zealand.
Yes to both those lovely places! Since I’m working on a Scottish-set novella right now, I’d have to lean toward the Highlands, but Middle Earth calls to me as well.
I’ve always wanted to go to Scotland or Ireland. Of course, I like to read abut the long ago highlanders and quaint fairies of Ireland. To think how people came from there to America to start a new life. The history of both places are only found in the many romance novels. Several authors described them perfectly to make us want to go and take a tour. Maybe one day I can.
