Update: The gift card winner is…bn100!
When he first appeared in ANGEL OF DARKNESS, Sammael (Sam) wasn’t exactly the guy riding to the rescue on a white horse. Sam was a fallen angel, a guy who had fallen very, very far from grace. He knew all about sin, and Sam wasn’t afraid to kill in order to get what he wanted.
Actually, Sam wasn’t afraid of anything.
While I wrote ANGEL OF DARKNESS, I really became interested in Sam’s character. I wondered what would happen if he got to be the “hero” in his own tale.
I knew turning Sam into a hero would be a tricky business, but I’ll just go ahead and confess…my favorite heroes to write? They’re the bad guys. The men that, if they aren’t careful, could cross that line into evil-land. They’re dangerous, they’re powerful, and, in the right, desperate situation, they can also be just the men that my heroines need.
And when they are paired with their heroines, these men become more. More than just bad boys. More than just guys with a darkness growing inside. They can show strength. Courage. They can love.
But loving isn’t easy for them.
So Sam…I didn’t give him an easy time of it when I wrote his story (ANGEL BETRAYED). I forced his character to fight for everything that he wanted. After all, what’s a happy ending worth if you don’t have to fight for it?
In ANGEL BETRAYED, Sam has the fight of his life waiting for him. Lucky for Sam, the angel is one hell of a fighter.
Thanks for checking out my post! And, hey, how about a prize? I just talked about bad guys…but why don’t you tell me about your favorite “bad” girl/heroine? I’ll pick one commenter to win a $10 Barnes & Noble gift card. Good luck!

I cannot wait to read this series Cynthia. It’s on my TRL. One of my favorite characters to read about are Angels, fallen or otherwise.
To narrow it down I’d say Zsadist, Tohrment and Rhage from the BDB by JR Ward. So bad you have to love them.

Thank you, Carol! I am so glad you’re excited about the series!!! And what a great list of “bad” guys you have!
Right now a favorite of mine is the Nali
even the good ones are bad!!!
LOL, I love those bad, um, good ones.
My favorite bad girl would be Sabine “The Queen of Illusions” from Kresley Cole’s IAD series.

I loved her character!
My favorite bad Guy is Stryker from the Dark-Hunter series
reginamayross@gmail.com
He is wickedly bad. Great choice!
Congratulations on your new release!!!
Thank you, Regina!
Anne Stuart writes the *best* bad boys
but I think my favorite of hers is Peter from Cold As Ice…an assassin who seduces men and women alike in order to kill them- I love him,
I am such an Anne Stuart addict! Thank you for mentioning her work. I don’t think anyone can quite do bad boys like she does!
Eric from True Blood… :0
Looking forward to the rest of the rest of the series! I really enjoy Angel of Darkness!
So glad you enjoyed Angel of Darkness–thank you!
And I would also like to add a vote for Eric–he’s awesome!
Hi Cynthia ** Waves enthusiastically **!! You know, I always have a prob with the fact that my fave bad boy is always the one that I’m reading about at the time. I’m currently reading Savage Awakening by J. D. Tyler, so, in keeping with what I just said, it would have to be Aric Savage, although a certain character that goes by the name of Sammael, has a certain spot in my heart **LOL**. Thanks for the awesome giveaway and as always my friend, congrats on your new release!!! bpatrick64113@sbcglobal.net
LOL, Barb, my bad boys change the same way. I am a fickle, fickle woman…easily swayed by their awesomeness.
Now I’ll have to check out Savage Awakening cuz it sounds great!
(And thank you for the congrats!)
I really enjoy the Hell’s Eight bad boys by Sarah McCarty. They all made a reputation for themselves with brutal justice and revenge for their murdered familes but they still have soft spots inside that one special women helps them find. Shadow is my favorite.
Those guys sound fierce. I will have to check out their stories!
Very cool, Cynthia! And really, who doesn’t love a bad boy? One of my favorites is still Sebastian St. Vincent from Devil in Winter–what I love is how hard he falls for Evie, against all anyone might expect
I have got to read that book!
Congrats on the new release, Cynthia. Had a great time at your party. One of my favorite bad girl heroines is Annette Baxter from Debra Webb’s “Faceless.” She’s a fixer for the rich and of course many of them are baddies, but she does eventually bring them down.
Thank you, Jane! And Annette sounds like such a cool character!
Congratulations on the book! I like Lothaire from Immortals After Dark.
Thank you!
Hmmmm… A favorite of mine right now would be Pam from True Blood! Though she isn’t *really* bad, her snarkiness kinda makes her look that way sometimes
My favorite bad girl would be Kelley Armstrong’s Eve. She’s a dark witch but finds redemption (stays a bit dark
).
Cynthia- in book it would be Eric the Northman from the Sookie Stackhouse series. I mean he’s pretty bad.
