It’s almost here…those lazy days that stretch into next week. Since I used to teach, summer meant a real break for me and the kids. Now I still keep up the daily 9-5 writing schedule, but I’m always looking for ways to take mini-vaca’s that give me the same sense of freedom the last day of school always imparted.
Sometimes it’s as simple as walking the dogs down by the river. Or stepping out onto the veranda with a cup of coffee, settling into one of the chairs and putting my heels up on the railing. If it’s Saturday, my DH and I might slip off to Revere Beach early with our beach chairs and books and listen to the gentle surf wash up on the sand till the crowds arrive and it’s too noisy to pretend we’re there by ourselves.
But that brings me to one of the best ways to slip into summer mode–between the pages of a new book! Nothing takes me away like a hot hero and a heroine he can’t have for one reason or another. So I’m always looking for the newest titles coming out each summer.
I’m thrilled to share that I have a new story coming out July 31st called TOUCH OF A SCOUNDREL. It’s the last in my Touch of Seduction series, but you don’t have to have read the previous books to enjoy this one. It’s the story of Griffin Nash, Lord Devonwood who suffers from the “gift of touch”–the ability to glimpse the future when he touches an inanimate object. Griffin never knows when a tea cup, or a letter opener, or a bit of lace over satiny skin is going to send messages of what’s to come screaming into his brain.
He hates his gift. That’s because no matter how hard he tries, he’s never been able to alter the future he’s seen. When a sketching pencil shows him the lovely young woman in his garden is going to be in his arms within the next twelve hours, he has no wish to change things. Until he learns she’s his brother’s fiancee…
I just scored some ARCs of TOUCH OF A SCOUNDREL and want to give you a chance to win one. Just share a small way you “get away from it all” and you’ll be entered to win one of the 3 I’ll be giving away today.
If you’re looking for something to read this weekend, let me remind you that I have a couple of real deals running for your Kindle. TOUCH OF A THIEF was chosen by Amazon for their Top 100 program so it’s offered for only $3.99 this month.
And you can still claim my Victorian “James Bond” in HOW TO DISTRACT A DUCHESS for a budget-pleasing $2.99.
So to recap…share how you make a mini-escape whether it’s summer or not, and you’ll be entered in the random drawing for my TOUCH OF A SCOUNDREL. The winners will be announced here on Sunday, May 20th.
Good luck!
Oh! If you’ve never posted a comment here before, I may need to moderate it for the first time. Rest assured I’ll be checking back to make sure your entry is posted.

Hi Mia,
My mini escape from everyday life is to relax on a sun lounger outside with a romance book. I love to listen to the birds trilling and watch the butterflies fluttering around my back garden.
I have to say that I just love the cover art on Touch of A Scoundrel. I’m loving all these vibrant purple colors showing up on books that definitely catch one’s eye.
I’d love to win Touch of a Scoundrel, and read Griffin’s story. How exciting to have the gift of “touch” and to glimpse the future.
Thank you for this amazing opportunity.
Your back garden sounds lovely! Thanks for sharing and good luck, Diane.
It is Mia, when it get’s too hot, I either jump in the pool, or go back inside to cool off.
[...] some ARCs of TOUCH OF A SCOUNDREL and I can’t wait to share some. I’m blogging over a Brava Authors today. Hope you’ll pop over there and leave a comment for a chance to win [...]
I’ve loved your Touch of Seduction series & am keeping my fingers crossed that I might win an ARC of Griffin’s story!
My favorite mini escape every day is the time that I’m waiting to pick my daughter up from school. It’s a 30min. vacation in my truck! I take a glass of tea and my current “read” & put on whatever music I feel like listening to. I love it, because it’s the only time that I can completely “zone out” with a book…no phone ringing, dogs vying for my attention, or dust bunnies screaming “hey, look at us…we’re multiplying in your house”!
Never fails to amaze me how that 30min break can completely relax me! That being said…I’ll have to figure out what to do in a few weeks when the kids are home for summer break. Maybe I’ll hide out in my closet!
Why, oh, why do dust bunnies have to be so darn prolific?
Well, they are bunnies… and you know what they say about bunnies..
Hi Mia- gorgeous cover. I get away from it all by plopping myself on the sofa with a diet Coke and a hot romance.
Ah! Diet Coke… the water of life. My drink du jour is Cherry Coke Zero, but the corner Walgreen’s is often out of stock.
My escape is the beach, a laen chair, umbrella, cold drink-preferably with alcohol, and a great book….I might start reading after dawn with the sunrise but I tend to get lost in my books so I might look up in the early evening and find my book is done, but I am a burnt lobster…haha
I escape everyday by going upstairs and curling up with a book and don’t come down till I finish it
I’m seeing a pattern here. It involves a book. I like it!
Mia… I LOVE your books and would LOVE to win this ARC!!
Thanks, Betty. Good luck!
Oh… I forgot… I get away from it all by READING!! LOL… one of your new ARCs… I hope!!
Sent here by Shana Galen, and glad I did it. Sounds like my kind of book, I love when the “forbidden” love.
So, I get away from it all by traveling 10 miles to our giant lake with my chair, umbrella and a good book (hopefully yours now). The sounds of the waves and the warm sunshine is my heaven.
Looking forward to checking out your first to books – I’ve gotta get caught up
Sounds like you live in a lovely area. I enjoy our water view of the Mystic River. Very relaxing. Of course, now that the trees have leafed out, it’s a “peek-a-boo” view, but that’s nice too.
i will get away from all by reading and listening music
cant wait to read touch of a scoundrell
What kind of music, eli?
I usually read the book at the back of my home with a glass of ice tea and listen to the music. Sometimes I just lock myself in my room and spend my day doing anything in my room.
You’re new author 4 me though I’ve heard about you. It’s very difficult to find your book in Indonesia.
Actually, my first book in this series, TOUCH OF A THIEF is being translated for the Indonesian market. I’m not sure when it will come out there, but I got a memo about the international sale.
Oooh… I love your other books and can’t wait for this one!
For me, I love to read a book in my bed and take a long bath afterwards!
Thanks, May. My only problem with reading in the bathtub (other than the fact that I don’t have one in my condo!) is that I’m always afraid I’ll drop the book! Or, heaven forfend, my Kindle!
I keep my Kindle in a ziplock when near water!!
A mini escape is reading. There’s no opportunity for a vacation right now and I don’t like hot weather. Reading in a nice cool house is a mini escape.
When we returned from out Hawaii trip last Sunday, the AC was out in the building here in Boston and didn’t get fixed till Wednesday. Fortunately, we had three gray days of rain at the beginning of the week. Way to welcome us back from paradise…
I’d love to win this ARC…Heck… I’d love to fit into that beautiful dress on the cover…well, not to mention that good looking bare chest… Thanks for stopping by and chatting!!
I know, right? That purple is so gorgeous. I love all my covers, bu I think the Kensington art department saved the best for last in this trilogy.
My husband takes an afternoon nap so I use the time to read. No interruptions so peaceful.
My DH says naps are scriptural, but he’s yet to site me the chapter and verse!
The book sounds good. I like to take a walk.
I enjoy a stroll with my boys, Mack (a standard rat terrier) and Harry (a long haired dachshund who’s having a bad hair life). They enjoy keeping the park by the river safe from squirrels and marauding rabbits.
Love historical romances. Mia is a new author for me and always looking for new books and authors to check out. Definately adding to my must try list. Love the cover, the book sounds great. Thanks for the giveaway.
Good luck in the drawing Chris. There are 3 chances to win!
We live about 30 min. away from a state park. It is so beautiful and peaceful there. We will take our camper there and leave it for weeks at a time. Since I am retired, 28 years teaching, I can go any time and just sit by the creek and read. Thanks!
My family camped all over the western US when I was a kid. I loved to camp near waterfalls and rushing streams, but one night at American Creek, SD we were practically flooded out. We had to break camp in the middle of the night and head for higher ground. Everything we owned was soaked!
The only thing that relaxes me better than a book… is reading that book at the water’s edge. I love the ocean and its ‘healing’ ways. Is always a feeling of “coming home” to me.
I do love watching and listening to the surf. My DH and I just returned from a week cruising around the Hawaiian islands and one of the things I loved about it was leaving the veranda door open so we could hear the waves at night.
I find my mini escape by going for a walk. I love breathing the fresh air and listen to music or listening to a book. I also get to my escape by going to read a book.
My dogs make sure I take copious walks!
Hi Mia!
Since the weather is finally warming up I’m finally able to get away from the stress at work by going outside into the sunshine at lunch time!
Getting away from it all by reading one of your books (and having a brief “calgon moment” let’s me go back to work refreshed and relaxed with a smile on my face!
Glad to “take you away” anytime, Jeanne!
My mini getaway each day is at night when I go to bed. I sit up with my kindle and read a good romance novel for about 4 hours.
One of the things I love about reading with the Kindle app on my phone is that it’s backlit. I’m not keeping the DH up with the light any more.
Hi Mia, the way I get away is to grab my Kindle and sit on my porch and read – read – read. Every now and then my husband will show up to bother me and I just tell him to go away, hahahahahaha.
I’d love to win an arc of Touch Of A Scoundrel it sounds like a fantastic read and yep, I’m loving the cover too
Thanks for dropping by, Kathleen. Fortunately, my DH is a reader too, though he gravitates toward thrillers and techno-stuff. We can read together.
