The last few months, we’ve been talking about television shows with paranormal elements. We covered our current favorites, as well as those oldies-but-goodies. So what else is there?
How about ones we’ve never seen…or at least haven’t tried quite yet? Are there any paranormal shows out there that you’ve always thought looked interesting, but you just haven’t taken the time to watch?
For me, there are a lot. I mean, I only recently discovered Supernatural & just this week started watching Veronica Mars. I know! It’s like I’ve been living in a cave or something.
But despite the hype, I have never tuned in to True Blood or Charmed or The Vampire Diaries.
I’m moderately intrigued by previews for The Secret Circle & Lost Girl.
And the ones I’d really like to check out now that they’re no longer on
are The Fades, The Gates, & Torchwood (the original series; I have caught up with the Children of Earth & Miracle Day spin-offs & enjoyed them).
So what paranormal TV shows have you always thought about watching, but never quite gotten around to? Or have you maybe finally caught up with one you’ve been wanting to try?
And feel free to tell me what I’m missing by not watching some of the shows I mentioned. I’m always up for a good guilt trip.

I tried Grim once but wasn’t hooked. I’m sure there are others I haven’t tried but can’t even think of the names right now.
Oh, Diane, I watch Grimm & absolutely love it. Wish you’d give it another chance. BUT…I totally know what you mean about a show just not catching your attention. There are shows I love now (My Name is Earl, The New Adventures of Old Christine) that I tried when they first came on, but didn’t care for. Then somehow I tried them again & got totally hooked. Bizarre!
I also have to confess that I feel that way about Justified, which everyone just gushes about. I tried to get thru the first few eps, but just didn’t care for it. Not sure what I’m missing, but if you feel that way about Grimm, I get it.
I finally watched Battlestar Gallactica. I loved it, not really paranormal but really good.
I’ve kinda given up on the CW shows after Smallville ended (except Supernatural), they seem to angsty for me.
I seem to watch most of the paranormal shows. Stopped watching True Blood, but starting watching it again one day when I was bored. Not to keen on the vampire Bill Compton, Eric on the other hand–so hot!
Bedlam is a pretty good show if you can find it. It was on BBC America. It is about an apartment complex that used to be a mental institution.
Oh, I’ve got a friend bugging me to watch BG. I’m not usually into sci-fi, but am a HUGE Firefly fan & used to love the short-lived Space Rangers, so he thinks I might like it.
To be honest, I read the first couple Sookie books & didn’t care for them, which is why I haven’t been quick to jump on the True Blood bandwagon. People keep telling me I’ll love it, but I’m wary.
I’ve never heard of Bedlam, but it sounds good. Those darn BBC shows–I never seem to hear about them until they’re already gone.
My son got me started watching “Fringe.” I’m enjoying it a lot! I am nearing the end of the third season.
I watch Fringe! Gotta be honest—I have no idea what the heck is going on! They keep jumping around, dropping characters & storylines without warning…I’m so confused. I still watch & I like it on a per-episode basis, but I’ve given up on trying to make sense of it or keep up. LOL
I do not normally watch paranormal shows…but I have been watching Grimm lately and of course Once Upon A Time..which I’m not sure if I can call that a paranormal or not. I will be making the effort to see Dark Shadows..the movie..since I was just a kid when it was a soap..And my mom would not let me watch it!! LOL
HI HEIDI!!!!!
Hi, Hollie! {{waving}} I loooooooove Grimm & Once Upon a Time. Totally hooked.
Boy, I’m not sure about the new Dark Shadows movie. I remember Dark Shadows being dark & awesome, & those previews just make it look corny & stupid. I’m sure I’ll see it eventually—driven by curiosity, if nothing else
—but it’s not at all what I was expecting when I hear they were remaking it with Johnny Depp.
Have wanted to watch Buffy after seeing the spin off with David B from Bones. Did watch Charmed for awhile. Liked the show Moonlight that ABC had on a while ago, is was a vampire show.
I never really got into Moonlight, even tho I love Alex O.
But, oh—if you liked David B’s Angel, you would *love* Buffy. It’s so much better, it’s crazy. Esp. the early seasons. I’ve got the entire series on DVD (obsessive-compulsive viewer that I am *g*), but it repeats a lot on Chiller Channel, if you get that one.
I never watched Buffy, or Angel for that matter. And I’ve watched a handful of Charmed, but nothing regular. I’m new to Supernatural on Netflix (squee!) and LOVE it! Season 2 so far… What else? Oh! Missed An American Haunting last season and am so bummed! C’mon Netflix, where is my AAH?
Girl, what the heck is wrong with you?! You must check out Buffy. It’s fab, you’d love it. And it’s funny, which you might not expect, but it totally is!
Oh, yes—Supernatural. Have I gotten you totally hooked?
So glad you’re watching in order, too…the storyline really builds & gets totally more intense as the seasons move on, but if you just jump in late, you’ll be totally confused & not nearly as emotionally invested.
Haven’t checked about American Horror Story yet. Can I tell you something about that show? The previews alone *scare* me. And I’m not sure in a good way.
Once you watch a bit of it, lmk if you think I could handle it.
First off, apologies for everyone who dropped by yesterday to chat. I was here, but comments weren’t showing up, so I didn’t think anyone else was. So disappointing.
Then I started getting e-mails & comments on my personal blog & realized that comments were simply NOT SHOWING UP. They weren’t in the Pending folder, either, they were simply NOT THERE.
Somehow, tho, yesterday’s comments have been released from the bowels of Hell & we can chat again. So if you’re willing, I’d love to start this chat over again & really have some fun!
Has anyone else ever watched Roswell? I recently watched the whole series on netflix and fell in love with it. It seems that it wasn’t as well known as some other shows though. Max was such a heartthrob.
I remember Roswell, but never watched it. Hmmm…if it comes around again in repeats, maybe I’ll have to give it a try.
I tried Fringe and Grim, but never got hooked on them. However, I’m counting down the days until The Walking Dead is back!
And, definitely give True Blood a try. Warning, it’s very graphic, and sexual!
Love The Walking Dead. Well, I have some issues with it, but I’m a huge zombie fan, so I watch it religiously.
I certainly don’t mind sexy or graphic, but I didn’t care for the books at all, so it’s hard for me to work up the enthusiasm to check out the show. One of these days, I suspect I’ll be drawn in, though. LOL
