Random.org chose Kyle Code as the winner. Congrats!
Hi all! Happy Friday! First, I’d like to remind everyone that Hunted releases this month on April 24th. Hunted is the third book in the Dark Protector series and features Connlan Kayrs, the ultimate vampire soldier, and Moira Dunne, a wicked-hot witch from Ireland. The two mated a century ago (after a wild, crazy night), and Conn gave Moira one hundred years to train as a witch and learn her powers. Time is up, and Conn heads across the ocean to bring his witch home. She, ah, doesn’t quite fall in line.
I’ve been working hard writing the fifth book in the Dark Protector Series. This book features Kane Kayrs, the smartest and most logical vampire on the planet, and his possible mate, a free-spirited eco-friendly human woman who has no idea the power she holds to fight demons. She’s a pacifist, for goodness sakes.
During the last month, I’ve spent time writing in several airports and different cities across the USA. First, twenty of us gals ventured to Las Vegas to celebrate our friend’s 40th birthday. Now, you take twenty moms and give them a weekend away from work, baseketball games, and laundry? Yes. We spent time at a hospital, time at several pools that weren’t with our hotel, and time in those underground rooms where a casino takes a troublemaker. I truly don’t know how many times I said, “I’m not licensed to practice law in Nevada. Behave.” A few of us also gambled…and we attended the Thunder Down Under show. Very interesting.
After Nevada, I headed across the country to New Orleans. I absolutely love that city. The FF&P conference was held there, and I gave a workshop about craft blunders. I also went on a ghost/vampire tour of the city that was beyond cool. And creepy. I had so many ideas spinning through my head for stories afterwards! But I did get a chance to write while soaking up the energy of the city. In fact, there are a couple scenes in Hunted set in New Orleans! What’s funny is that I turned that book in a year ago.
Then my entire family (husband and kids, parents, sisters and their families) headed for Maui for spring break. There were fifteen of us, and we had a ball. I wrote at the pool, I wrote at the beach, and I tried very unsuccessfully to write on a boat while whale watching. Don’t write on a boat while whale watching if you have the slightest inclination to get sea sick. Watch the whales. I quickly set the computer aside and watched whales, feeling just fine by the end of the trip. Isn’t the picture nice?
So, now I’m gearing up to promote Hunted.
To celebrate the release of Hunted on April 24th of this month, how about we do a giveaway of either Fated or Claimed (the first two books in the series)? Just leave a comment for a chance to win – I’ll leave the contest open through the weekend. Have you been on any fun vacations lately? If not, where would you like to go?

I can’t wait for this new book to come out..Huge congrats..The next book sounds just as hot…I must say you have been very busy with travels, but you probably got inspired from that as well. I love to travel myself.
Have a Happy Easter…
Hi Savannah! Yeah, I really like seeing other places. But I don’t like to fly, so it’s a balancing act. You have a Happy Easter, too!
It sounds like you’ve had so much fun travelling lately – good job on keeping the writing going!
I have never been to Australia and would LOVE to go there and visit. Same with Ireland. Well, Spain, too. I guess I need to start planning.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Hi Calla! Thanks so much – good luck in the drawing!
I had a week off in March but it was just me. I enjoyed myself by having lunch with friends, doing some much needed housework and relaxing a whole lot.
Hi Diane! A whole week to yourself — good for you! That sounds divine right now. Have a great weekend.
I absolutely love this series!!! I can’t wait to for each book to come out!!
Thanks so much, Jody! I appreciate the support and hope you like Conn’s story.
Man, your trips sound fun! I went to Vegas with my best friend about five years ago, and we shopped like crazy. Well, we gambled a little bit, too.
I think I’d like to go to Alaska someday – I’ve heard the mountains are amazing. Thanks for the giveaway!
Hi Kylie! Isn’t Vegas a great place to shop? Well, and gamble a bit? I’m with you about Alaska–the glaciers are cool to see as well.
Thanks so much for the chance to win! I would love to go and visit the Florida Keys sometime. It looks warm and yet is still not too far from home. Have a great weekend!
Hi Becca! I’ve never been to the Keys, but it sounds like a great place to vacation. If you go, let me know.
I am so dang excited! Hunted comes out in perfect timing for my 4 hour airplane ride the next day, I LOVE this series.
Hi DeAnn! I’m so glad you’re liking the series. I ALWAYS take a print book on the plane to read and escape into–I hope you enjoy Hunted.
Hi Kathy! Thanks so much – good luck in the drawing and have a wonderful weekend.
Can’t wait for the new book Hunted … Your books are so good . Exciting and love the new vampire legends … I hope you keep this story line going for months to come . I’ll be right there reading them .. Have a Happy Easter …………..

Love the Kayrs brothers! Looking forward to Moira making Conn work for it. Sounds like you had a blast in Vegas!
Hi Lavonda! Yeah, Moira gives Conn a run for his money. Of course, he’s been preparing for a century, so…
I haven’t been away on vacation in a few years, but I’d love to get away to a beach with lounge chairs in the shade – may favorite place to read!
Hi Diane! I’m with you — I love to read at the beach or at the pool. Of course, it’s raining at home right now and yesterday it snowed, so it might be awhile for me.
I have always wanted to visit the ocean-it has been a lifelong dream. I love “Fated” I hope to read “Claimed” soon.
Hi Gail! I hope you get to see the ocean soon – hopefully during whale season. They’re amazing to see in person. Have a good one!
Love, love love this series
…..would be so happy to be chosen as winner.
Have a terrific Easter.
Gayle
Hi Gayle! Good luck in the drawing, and you have a wonderful Easter as well.
I haven’t read either book yet so I would love to win the first one
I have not seen my sister in a couple years so that would be my fun vacation. I miss her so much!
Thank you for a chance to win one of your books
Hi Cheryl! I take most of my vacations with my sisters, so I totally know what you’re saying. Good luck in the drawing!
Oh WoW … you had some crazy things during your vacay.
I have to say I loved Tempted and can’t waited for the 24th to get here. Conn and Moira’s story is going to be epic. I can just feel it in my bones.
My vacay plans are set for New Orleans in August for the AAD Convention and I think we are going on the same vampire tour as you. How wicked is that?!?!
Much thanks for hosting this awesome giveaway contest and I hope you and your family have a wonder Easter.
Hi Erin! You are going to love the vampire/ghost tour – it’s awesome! And New Orleans is the coolest place…I want to go back so badly. You have a wonderful Easter, too.
I absolutely loved the series and cannot wait to read ‘Hunted’…
Looks like you & your family had fun in Maui… That’s wonderful!…
You definately have a follower here… These books have kept me engrossed from beginning to end… Have a very blessed Easter!
Hi Debra! Thank you so much for the kind words–I’m like you’re enjoying the series. Maui was wonderful and I got some one on one time with my sisters, which doesn’t happen as often as I’d like with our busy lives. You have a wonderful Easter as well!
It sounds like you had a fantastic month! Congrats on your upcoming release!
In February, the family and I went to Walt Disney World for the little ones birthday. It was great to see his reaction to everything from the rides to the characters! However, the first hotel was horrible, so we switched. My bag was accidentally left somewhere, so my digital camera and video camera were lost. I was a little upset, but the kids had a great time, so it was worth it.
Thank you for the opportunity to read your book.
Happy Easter!
Hi Tina! WOW. That’s an adventure! I’m sorry about your cameras – I hope you didn’t lose too many pictures. We’ve taken the kids to Disneyland but not to Disney World yet. I’m glad your kids enjoyed it!
Thanks, we did not lose too many pics. I would love to go to CA someday and Disneyland!
I’m so glad my fave serial will be released. Horeee…
I can’t wait the interactionn between these 2. Conn and Moira.
Hi Milly! Thanks so much – I hope you like the story. Conn was a lot of fun to write abou–with him being such a tough soldier, it made the emotional times pretty cool. Let me know what you think.
By the sound of it, it seems you had a blast wherever you went. That’s the way to do it. I love to travel and see new places myself, I have a ‘bucket list’. First would be New Orleans, for some reason the city is calling to me. Another place would be Hawaii among others.
Your books were recommended by friend who is a fan of yours and I am looking forward to read them all.
Happy Easter and Happy Spring!
Hi Eniko! I would definitely visit New Orleans if you get the chance – there’s something about that place that’s truly special. So is Hawaii, however. I hope you see both places soon!
Congrats on the upcoming release of Hunted. I haven’t bee on a vacation in quite awhile. I too went to Vegas on my last one with a friend of mine and we had a blast for a week straight. You know the saying “What Happens In Vegas Stays In Vegas” lol
But I’d love to go to Scotland during early summer or Italy.
Happy Easter.

Hi Carol! Thanks so much! I visited Italy when I was in college and absolutely loved it. I’d like to go back with my husband since he has family there…but I don’t know when. Happy Easter!
Wow, that’s a lot of traveling! I’m so jealous, but how on earth do you find time to write? I think my only traveling this year is going to be to exotic Cleveland, Ohio. Yup, I’m the envy of all, lol!
Hi Rebe! Well, I’ve never been to Cleveland, so it seems exotic to me.
Or at least mysterious. I hope you have a wonderful time.
Congrats on the success of the series Rebecca!
I’m on vacation right now, but haven’t been anywhere exciting unless it’s in something I’m reading:)
yadkny@hotmail.com
Hi Yadira! Congrats on being on vacation–I hope you have some fun and read some good books!

As for travels,i love discovering new places,i used to travel a lot but i guess i am getting lazy….all the waiting in airports, the security checks…
better stop,my age is showing:-))))
you should all come to Montreal in summer, people love it,lots of things
happening,to me it’s home but you might find it exotic,as you said of Cleveland
Hi Louise! I don’t like the airport experience much, either…but once I get somewhere new I’m okay. I’d love to visit Montreal–I’ve never been there. I’ll have to keep an eye on possible conferences there.
Congratulations on the upcoming release! Happy Easter!
Hi BN100 – thanks so much! Happy Easter to you, too!
Hi Rebecca,
Went on a trip to Italy, Greece, Spain and Switzerland last fall! Was fabulous…took 3 weeks off! Would like to go back to the British Isles some day-loved Scotland and Ireland. Sooo many places to go and so little time (off
). Can’t wait for your next book of the Dark Protectors. Hope you got to relax along with writing, especially in Maui!
Wow Karen – now that sounds like FUN! And yes, I did get a chance to relax…the weather was wonderful.
I hope you like Moira’s story.
I can’t wait for Hunted. I’ve read all three of you books so far and loved, loved,LOVED them. I recommend them to everyone. I hope you have a great Easter.
Hi Lori! Thank you so much for the recommendations – I appreciate it! I hope you have a great Easter, too.
After reading all about your books and the comments of others on your blog and on Facebook, I have to confess I just started reading “Fated,” but I can tell your writing and this series in particular are going to be faves of mine! The book is hard to put down…right from the first page onward I am riveted by the story. It is the greatest “vacation” of all for me–going “away” in stories that I love. I live and have fun through the stories. I’m so glad I discovered you! Have a fantastic Easter–I sure will.
Hi Janice! Thank you for the kind words–I’m glad you’re enjoying Fated. I hope you have a wonderful Easter and get a lot of time to read.
I’m looking forward to your new release along with everyone else!
I guess the most exciting vacation I have taken was about 16 years ago when my family was stationed in Germany and had my mom and grandparents come over (They wanted to see the new addition to our family- who is now about to graduation from high school!!) We went down to the the Alps to Berchtesgaden, stayed in the hotel that was above Hitler’s mountain bunker, visited the town while the men and my son took a tour of the saltmins. Then the grandparents and my mother went over to Austria (I had forgotten our passports
) Then a tour on the St. Bartolomä Church, on the Königsee near Berchtesgaden and had the most delicious Black Forest Cake EVER!. Did a driving tour of the Black Forest /Mummelsee/Vogtsbauernhöfe and Freiburg. I could have stayed forever.. Got to see the World’s largest Cuckoo Clock too. To top it off we left the kids with friends and took a Rhine River cruise!! It was AWEsome! truly! All those Castles (sigh) got to tour one.. All the picturesque little villages and ruins, wanted never to leave there either! Had REAL Beef Stroganoff with schnitzel (heavenly). A few days later we braved Germany’s “Famed” traffic jams to go down to Heidelberg and tour the town and Castle there. To end it all closer to where we were stationed. We all did a tour of Frankfort. Had to hold Grandpa back from wanting to walk over the pedestrian bridge to take a looksie at the Redlight district! LOL
It was a blast! Have a blessed Easter Holiday and wishing you continued success..
Congrats on the new release, Hunted. I put in to review Hunted and then I found out it was book 3. But I still want Hunted. Now to get Claimed and Fated.
I enjoyed reading your post. I lost pictures of Disney World once. A long time ago when we still used film in cameras. I had somehow wound the film the wrong way, instead of winding back into the canister to get developed, it got wound around the other spindle. Needless to say all those pictures were lost. It was in the Animal Kingdom which is my favorite park. That jeep safari ride and then some meerkats. I was just a mite bit upset. But oh well can you do. I had to open the camera to get the film out so we could continue to take other pictures.

Congrats on the release! I have not been on any cool vacations/trips lately, I tend to be more of a homebody especially in recent years due to an accident. One of these days I do want to travel more. I would love to go to Canada (during summer) and Great Britain/Europe. This would be what I would spend a year or longer doing if I ever won the lotto.
Have a great Easter weekend, no matter how you celebrate it.

Camping this weekend with friends. That’s about it for me and vacations. Lisagk@
“Hunted” sounds amazing, I am so looking forward to reading it, I love this series!
I always take a print book (or two) with me when I travel, especially if there’s a long flight involved. I live in Spain and my next trip will be to Dallas, so yep, that’s a 2-book plane ride
Thank you for the chance to win one of your books!
I have only read brief snaps here and there on your books I so want to read one all the way through but library here doesn’t carry. Lol I always forget to go online and order books. Haven’t ordered anything since moving to Italy this last fall. Living it but miss being able to just get to a store and grab what book I want. I keep hearing great things can’t wait for you to keep on writing.
Brandy,do you know about The Book Depository in the the UK? they ship free all over the world.Hope it helps you,if you already new just delete my message:-)
I know what it is to not be able to get the books you want because here in Quebec ,if you don’t live in Montreal, you can forget about English books!!! But now with Internet and e-readers you can live in Timbuktu and you are ok.
Can’t wait to read all of this series!!! Congrats on your new one!!!

I’m anxiously awaiting the release of “Hunted”! In my “Ideal World”, I would be reading “Hunted” while enjoying a glass of Pinot with my husband, eating pasta at a sidewalk cafe in Tuscany (kids safely tucked away at my mother’s house). In my “Real World”, I will lock myself in my office. threaten my husband and kids if they interrupt, and pull an all-nighter to finish the book in one delicious gulp! Either way…I’m guaranteed a great read, so I’ll take it!
Found this series at the library..couldn’t put it down!!! Had to buy them so I couls reread them…Can’t wait for the new one
Keep ‘em comin’..I love your books
sounds like a great series. I’d love to go to hawaii. One of two of my dream vacations.
I would love to go to Ireland. I just heard about this series today (I’m always looking for new books to read) and can’t wait to start it!
I can’t wait for this book! ive been itching to know what happens! love the books Rebecca~
I’m not sure what happened to my original posting to your blog, but I’ll try again.
I first became ‘acquainted’ with you via your wonderfully funny comments about your backyard decorations and your new neighbor.
I decided that I loved your style and bought Claimed. I need to buy the rest of the series. Yes, I know I read them out of order, but sometimes I do that, because I want to get the highest rated book by the author first. I was not dissappointed!
Congratulations on Hunted!!
Susan
I love to read – I love to read – free books are Great! Thank you for the chance to win one of yours! Thanks
