Oh, your fallen sound tasty.

My favorite trait in a hero is the strong silent gig. No whining about your pain etc and so forth. Suck it up and tear down a castle with your bare hands, go wenching, pillage something. Don’t snivel on about the tortures of the dark. Blech.

In romance in general I like the themes of self-sacrifice, but not the overwrought die for you self-sacrifice, because that’s easy. It’s a one time shot. I like it when the hero and heroine both endure over and over again. Happily Ever After isn’t a destination, it happens one day at a time.

You’re right the characters must be believable or we won’t enjoy the book. Not just the story but the hero and heroine, the plot and even the romance!

Really enjoyed your post. As for what I like I love alpha heroes and I also enjoy when characters have a sense of humor. It makes it fun to read though some of my favorite books the characters can be very sarcastic and I love that.

It can also depend on my mood as to what I will like best about characters.

I agree with your post. When I first started reading I was all about it being about Vampires.. but now I’m more like you and its like hmm is it good writing? Do I like the characters? Is it a story I can get into? XD Awesome post!

I agree with you too. The characters have to be believable. I like the strong alpha male but also the strong alpha female. I hate it when the female is totally submissive. When the alpha male seems to like it when the female gives it right back at him I know he’s my kind of guy.
Your angel series sounds really good. Reading that their wings were burned off made my back arch up in empathy for them.

I agree. I have to believe in the character.

I love it when they’re harsh, yet I can still sense the ultimate “I’ll do ANYTHING for you” vibe. Just makes my toes curl!!
