In just over a month, I’ll have a new book release! I’LL BE SLAYING YOU will be available from Kensington Brava on June 29th. (I love counting down to a release day, can you tell?)
Here’s the blurb for my book:
Sandra “Dee” Daniels is a vampire’s worst nightmare. Sure, she couldn’t get up to five-six in the highest heels money can buy—not that she ever wears heels. But the monsters in her past and the stake in her boot are enough to keep most bloodsuckers interested in staying undead out of Baton Rouge.
But there are changes afoot on her turf. Rumors of a Born Master in town—a vampire so powerful he can make the streets run with blood. And a new face in Dee’s dive bars and alleyways—Simon Chase, a strong, sexy shadow with a haunted past of his own. Simon knows a lot about the dark side of Dee’s work. He knows even more about how to make her body spark with desire. But the hot lust shimmering between them is only the beginning. Because Simon also knows a secret that will change Dee’s life—if she can live long enough to uncover it.
***
If you read ETERNAL HUNTER, the first book in my Night Watch series, then you’ve already met Dee. She’s small, she’s tough, and she really hates vampires. What can I say? Not all vamps are shiny and moody and angsty. Some are just bad and they need a good staking.
Would you like to win an early copy of I’LL BE SLAYING YOU? Then just tell me your all-time favorite vamp or vamp book. My all-time favorite vampire is (of course) Spike. So bad, but so wickedly good.
Thanks!
Cynthia Eden

I’LL BE SLAYING YOU–Available 06/29/10 from Kensington Brava
DEADLY FEAR–Available 08/1/10 from Grand Central Publishing (Forever)

I’ve always liked Ryder from Caridad Pineiro’s The Calling series. He’s a more compassionate vampire and definitely doesn’t deserve a stake. Congratulations on your upcoming release, I can’t wait to read it.
Congratulations on the upcoming release of I’ll Be Slaying You. Love the cover. My all time favorite vampire is JR Ward’s Zhadist.
I don’t know who my favorite vampire is….there are so many.
Ugh….Maybe Eric from the Sookie Stackhouse novels. I haven’t read many “sexy vampire books” where the vampire is a GUY.
I can’t wait to read this book Cynthia. My favorite vamp book is Twilight. Yes it’s embarrassing to admit that, but, Twilight put me on the road to read other great books such as the BDB, Dark Hunters, and I found Gena as well.
Hi Cynthia – Right now (it could change) my favorite vamp is also a demon and that would be Larissa Ione’s Wraith. I fell for him so fast my neck hurt
I am so looking forward to I’ll Be Slaying You. Thanks for the contest.
I can’t wait for this to be out! Like, now.
I have so many favorite vamps, it’s ridiculous. Picking just one? Sadistic. It would have to be between Asher (Laurell K Hamilton) Talon (Sherrilyn Kenyon) and Rhage (JR Ward). Gah, I can’t pick! I feel grey hair sprouting from the stress.
Okay, okay, if you put a gun to my head, I’d say Rhage. I sigh at you for making me pick.
Can’t wait until the new book comes out – I have to agree with you — I love Spike!! The scariest vampires I think were in the original movie Salem’s Lot – they were just too creepy!! Thanks for a chance to win the new book!
Oh yeah – forgot Paul Rueben’s vampire in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie — too funny!!
Belinda – Don’t be ashamed of Twilight. It’s what got me reading again after 19 years. Now I can’t stop. It’s driving my husband nut. He keeps yelling at me to use the library – who’s he kidding? They never have what I want to read.
Reading the Twilight books is what got me reading the genre too. I just had to find something a little steamier than YA books –
)
My all time fav vamp is Wrath from JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood. There’s just something about a huge vamp being brought to his knees by a woman and all he can say is “Sweet Jesus!”
Hi, Linda! Caridad’s series is on my TBR list. Can’t wait to learn more about Ryder. And thanks for the congrats!
Thank you, Crystal! Oh, I’ve heard lots of good things about Zhadist!
Hi, Shanise! I am planning to read those books this summer. It’s terrible that I haven’t read them sooner, but they will be my vacation reward.
Thanks, Belinda!
And Twlight is a great vamp book. I just like to talk smack about Edward b/c I’m on Team Jacob. Go Jacob!
Hi, Viki! Oh, I LOVE Larissa’s demons! Wraith is killer. Thank you!
LOL, I think it is perfectly normal to have many vampire loves. I do!
Hey, Shelly! So glad to hear you love Spike, too! I always wanted him to get his own series. Sigh. Didn’t happen. And Pual Rueben was so hilarious–totally agree!
You tell her, Viki! If a book gets you to read, then that is only a fabulous thing. (Whispers…Go Jacob, Go!)
favorite one at this moment is Bones from Jeannine Frost Grave Series. Looking forward to reading I’ll be Slaying you. Love your books and would love to win this one so I can read it early
Okay…I’m going with J.R. Ward’s Vishous. Talk about a wounded hero.
Also on team Jacob here – thank goodness he’s of age now so I can admit that.
I’m looking forward to the release of “I’ll be Slaying You!”
Is anyone else old enough to remember Barnabas Collins on the original Dark Shadows? Used to run home from the school bus stop to watch it!!
I love the title “I’ll be Slaying You.” I’m looking forward to reading Dee’s story.
As to my favorite vampire, I’m going to mis-quote what Barbara Streisand said at the BEA yesterday, when asked which song was her favorite. “That’s a terrible thing to ask. I don’t want to offend the vampires.”
My favorite Vampire book is Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”. I’m still–almost–afraid to reopen the book!
First I am a huge fan…I love your books and have pre-ordered this one and can’t wait for it to come out!!! Now for the hard part…
UGH…it isn’t possible to pick just one? I mean seriously that is just too hard to do???? I will give you my top five but I don’t think I can narrow it down from there.
Bones from Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress Series – he is a smart ass & supper sexy
Eric Northman from Charlaine Harris’s Southern Vampire Series – Big yummy viking
Tohrment & John Matthew from JR Ward’s BDB Series – both have been threw so much and deserve their HEA (these count as 1)
Adrian from Amy Lane’s Little Goddess Series – this is one of my absolute favorite series and I can’t say much about him without spoiling it!
Last but not least!!!
Edward from Stephanie Meyer’s Twilght Saga – because thanks to my daughter getting me to read it I am now reading again & I am an addict now
And these are just the actual Vampires…there are so many other charecters out there that I love but didn’t list they are technically Demons, Were’s, Fey…you get the picture.
Thanks!
Maria S
Ok go ahead and groan… but I would choose Twilight and Edward. I know, I know… but he SPARKLES! I also love JR Wards characters
Hi Cynthia! Oh my, what a question. I absolutely love Angel, along with a beavy of others, but my all time fav would have to be Barnabas Collins. I cut my teeth on Dark Shadows when I was growing up. I hear that Johnny Depp is planning on playing BC in a new movie, sometime in the future. WOOHOO! As you knooooow, I am DYING to get my hands on I’ll Be Slaying You!
My favorite vamp is Zsadist from JR Ward’s BDB series. Love the BDB series and Zsadist’s story was definitely one of the best. I loved reading Eternal Hunter and can’t wait for the release of I’ll Be Slaying You.
Oooo love the premise of this book, Cynthia! As for all time favorite vampire – I was with you on Spike until the end. I guess the last episode of Buffy was really disappointing [to me] and… meh.
Spade in Jeaniene Frost’s books.
So… favorite vampire? I’ll go with…
I’m not sure I could pick one favorite vamp, but maybe the first? Count von Count–I love his accent, and well, I can sell him to the kids as educational
Congrats on I’ll Be Slaying You, Cynthia! Can’t wait to get caught up with this!
My favourite vampire has to be Jean-Claude from the Anita Blake series by LK Hamilton. Congrats on your upcoming release!
I have to agree with the person who said Larissa Ione’s Wraith (I know better than to claim the man because my friend would hurt me) but I love his personality and his mouth. He is just awesome
Mine would be Colin Ames-Beaumont from Demon Moon by Meljean Brooks. Also, have to agree with some of the others about Wraith.
I enjoy Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark-Hunter series. I can’t wait to read your latest release!
My all time fav is Mikhail from Dark prince, Christine Feehan’s 1st Carpathian book.
I love Joey W. Hill’s vampires and of course J.R. Ward’s too. So many excellent Vampire books out there that it is really hard just to pick one.
Congrats on the newest release. I cannot wait for this one to come out.
Hi Cynthia,
There are innumerable delicious vamps out there, but I have to say my favourite is Gary Oldman portraying Count Dracula in the movie “Dracula” from 1992. His performance was excellent and he had mad vampire skills, especially his ability to style his hair!
With all of the exceptionally beautiful and ‘tamed’ vampires in the genre now, I can’t help but be attracted to the mean ones: the slightly psychotic vamps who can’t be trusted; the ones with huge emotional depth and frightening power; the larger than life vamp who will hurtle you into sexual ecstasy with his bite all the while freaking you out with his camp nature.
I think I need a bit of quiet time now and a cup of tea. **pant, pant, drool, drool**
I’ve been stalking you wherever you’ve been giving this book away. I want a copy of it in my hands BAD! I love your writing and can’t wait to read this book.
As for a fave all-time vamp…I have to go with Blade.
I cannot pick a favourite Vampire as there are so many to choose from but if push came to shove I guess I would have to go with Hanry Fitzroy because he writes romance novels and that’s so different to most other fictional vampires.
Having read Eternal Hunter I can’t wait for I’ll Be Slaying You to hit my bookshelf *prays to bookfund god for more money*
My favorite vamps these days are those in Joey W Hill’s, Vampire Queen series. Daegan Rei in Vampire Mistress, was a fascinating character, with tons of backstory that I can’t wait to read more about.
Mine is always going to be Angel as he is so sexy.
Congrats on the upcoming release, Cynthia. Can’t wait to read Dee’s story. I’m also looking forward to Zane’s book. My favorite vampire is Angel.
Hi Cynthia,
Congrats on your upcoming release and I love the cover!
I have two all-time favorite vamps and they are Zarek from Kenyon’s Darkhunter series and Zsadist from Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series.
Yeaah i can’t wait for this book! And though i’m not a vamp fan, my favorite is Bones.
Wow–I go away for a bit and come back to find an awesome list of vampires! I see some of my top faves on this list.
Let me just say…Shelly, I totally remember Barnabas Collins. That man made me love vamps. Did you know that Johnny Deep is supposed to be playing him in a remake?
Hey, Pamk! Thank you!
Hi, Rebecca! Glad to see you are on the winning team–and the now legal team.
LOL, Edie, I wouldn’t want to offend them either.
Virginia, what a classic!!
Thank very much you, Maria! And what a fabulous list you have! Bones is such a great character–he’s one of my faves, too.
No groaning, Robin! He does sparkle! I just like Jacob b/c he growls.
Barb, I must confess that I loved Angel when he went bad. Is that wrong? And I cannot wait for Johnny Depp as Barnabas!
Hi, Jeanette! So glad you enjoyed Eternal Hunter–thank you!
Limecello, I liked bad Spike. Wild and bad and fun Spike.
Oh, Fedora, Count von Count is currently my son’s favorite! Thanks for mentioning him! And thanks for the congrats!
Thanks, Spav! I’ve heard great things about Jean-Claude!
Uh,oh, Raonaid, don’t want your friend to hurt you! But Wraith is awesome.
Hi, Stacy! I haven’t read that one yet–I’ll put it on my list.
Oh, Teresa, I adore those Dark-Hunters.
I would love to have an early copy of I’ll Be Slaying You, that would be awesome!
I really like Bones from Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series. But I did always have a soft spot for Spike as well.
Ooh, Spike was a good choice! However, I liked Angel. He had that whole torturous thing down. I just wanted him to be happy. Your books (Maya’s my fav, love how she kicks butt!) and Charlaine Harris’ Sookie books (Eric, need I say more?) are the only Vamp books I’ve been reading lately.
For me it has always been Mikhail Dubrinsky from Christine Feehan’s Dark Series. I was hooked
Hi Cynthia!!!
Love your books!
I have never watched Buffy the Vampire so I don’t know who Spike is! I so have to get the DVD’s and give them a try!
But I love to read them! I love Bones from Jeanenne Frost’s series. Sigh… And then there are about 10 other series of vamps I love as well, then there are different paranormals, like your Colin who introduced me to more of your books and the start with your Brava!!!
CathieCaffey(at)gmail.com
Way too many to say but here is one: Mikhail from Christine Feehan, also Edward from Twilight etc.
Am so looking forward to your next book Cynthia.
Hello, Liz! Mikhail was such a great character–thanks for mentioning him!
Thanks for the congrats, Larena! I haven’t had the pleasure of reading Joey Hill’s books, but I will put them on my list!
LOL, Angie, Gary Oldman did have mad hair styling skills!
Anna, you are dedicated! Keep going and you will win!! And Blade–how could I over look Blade?
Ilona, there are a lot to choose from! But that’s good–I say the more vamps, the merrier.
Hi, Cathy! Ah, another fan of Joey Hill! I must read her books!
Patricia, I loved him in the first season of Buffy.
Thank you, Jane! And I will count you as another dedicated Angel fan. Can I admit that I loved it when Angel and Spike fought?
Hi, Terri! Thank you! Oh, Zarek! Absolutely one of my favorites!
Hey, Taylor! No vamps for you?
Barbara, I am so glad you share my admiration for Spike. Did you happen to catch the musical episode? I loved it when he sang.
Brandy, you are so right! Angel did have the tortured soul part down well.
Hi, Diane! Another Mikhail fan! Now I want to go back and re-read that book!
Thanks for all the comments, everyone! If I didn’t respond to your comment, I apologize. For some reason, a few of the comments came through out of order.
