Our internet was off all day yesterday. It was scary. Karl and I walked around the house bumping into each other and mumbling incoherently. I found him a couple of times sitting in front of the computer sniffling.
Okay, maybe it wasn’t that bad. I think if we didn’t have the internet I’d probably get a lot more work done. Yesterday felt kind of like a vacation. I wonder what would happen if everyone took one day off a week where they didn’t get on the computer at all.
When Karl the company said it wouldn’t be up until Tuesday. Now, I admit that was a little scary since my Brava Blog was due today, and which is why it’s late.
So, what are your thoughts? Could you take a day off from the computer without getting the shakes?
Make a comment (so I know who you are

During the big ice storm that hit New England last December we lost power for 4 days. Since we have a generator we could power the house, no worrries there. But having no internet was just killing us. Day 3 we were so deep into withdrawal we headed out to find someplace open with free wi-fi. …. Mo
I feel your pain Karen. I recently got a virus on my computer and had to live without it for 6 days! The first day was really hard because I had a deadline for some things I had promised and needed to computer to do them. I found that while I do use the internet for entertainment value I also use it to make mundane tasks a little bit easier. I wasn’t able to pay my bills online. Wasn’t able to find a recipe for dinner when I needed the inspiration, and seemed like I would constantly think of things I needed to check, but then remembered I didn’t have a computer.
I hate to think I am dependent on a machine, but I hated every day that I did not have it. While I try to limit my time, ie to have a real life not just a virtual one I also missed the talking to the friends I had made online. Learned that if I had a choice I would not want to live without one
The last big winter storm we had go through left me without power for a week. My sister didn’t have power either but she had a fireplace so we could keep warm. We spent the week reading books by booklights. When I finally got power and checked my e-mail it was slammed. Took me hours to read and dump them. Now I try to check every day, several times a day to keep the volume down. My goal is to get a newer faster computer so I don’t have to wait forever for it to open up graphics.
I wouldnt get the shakes; but wouldnt be too happy; am always on there.
Yep, I’m on the computer way too much. I think we’ve all gotten addicted to it.
Every winter we lose power a few times so I’m use to doing without. That doesn’t mean I’m happy about it though!
I most likely would not get the shakes, but it makes me crazy when our internet is down. I do agree that if I did not spend so much time online, I would probably get lots more done.
I hate it when the internet is down. I feel as if I’m missing out on everything. I feel out of touch with the rest of the world.
I hate it when the internet goes down. I end up tied to the computer anyway checking every few minutes to see if it’s back up. I’m an internet addict!
I have to admit our winters are pretty mild. Summers can be horrible, though.
Yes, I am an internet addict
We could start our own group. We could meet on line every week and tell how we couldn’t stay off the internet. Not sure it would cure us, though. Ack, I have a computer on my back
LOL! I’m kind of an addict but occasionally I try to force myself to take a breather. There are times when we’ve gone on vacation where we haven’t had easy access, and it’s been hard but good
I admit that I’ve checked mail/blogs from a few far flung places, including Jamaica and Korea
