my daughters, my birthday

This was my first trip to “the middle.” I say the middle because I’ve been west to LA and Alaska but never to the middle. This year I took the fam to Yellowstone and the Tetons.
WOW!
Then don’t grow mountains like that back in Cincinnati! Or do we have waterfalls like these or have snow in August nor do the bison cause traffic jams because all the nutty tourists are ape-shit parking their cars in the middle of the road to get pictures and simply marvel. No, this is Yellowstone! This is the West! I spent my b-day on the Snake River! I hiked ten mile trails. Gads, I’m pooped!
The scenery is spectacular but to me the real story is the people. Everyone’s as blown away as I am over the raw beauty around every corner. It’s great to see Old Faithful, but the real marvel is the crowds gathered every ninety minutes to see it blow up! Everyone awestruck at the thought of living on top of a volcano.
I’ve been to other National Parks. Smoky Mountain National Park is five hours from here and is incredible. And I’ve done whitewater rafting in the New River Gorge. This is an incredible country, if you don’t think so take a trip to a National Park!
So, have you been? Which ones and what was the most memorable sight you saw, the neatest thing you did. I’m hooked on National Parks and intend to go again and you can tell me where to go!
I’ll give away a Hot and Irresistible T-shirt from the chats.
Hugs,

Hey Dianne, you are adventerous. I have been the the smokey mountains I guess that is a giving living so close. I haven’t been to any other parks.
Looks like you had a great time.
I grew up in a camping family and we traveled the country for two weeks each summer growing up, staying in state and national parks. I’ve been to 40 states thanks to those family vacations. My favorite park? Undoubtedly Yellowstone. Someday I’d like to make it farther west to see the giant redwoods, the Oregon coast . . . But no more camping for me!
Hi Judy.
The Smokies are so great and so close to us. I love hiking through them and the autumns are terrific. Is there anything prettier than Tennessee mountains in the fall?
Thanks for writing!
Hi, Laurie.
I envy your camping family. Wish we did more of that when the kids were little I think they would have loved it.
Yellowstone is terrific. Living on top of a volcano is unique to say the least and the wildlife is out of this world. So many bison.
Forty state parks is lot of parks. I’m jealous. I’d love to get to Washington and Oregon too. Maybe one of these days.
thanks for chatting.

Dianne – I envy you your trip! I absolutely love Yellowstone and the Tetons. I haven’t counted up my states, but it’s a lot. This is a beautiful country we live in.
You and your girls would love Key West as well… even my hubby who is not a beach person is a big fan of Key West. Tons of history, and it feels like you’re not even in the U.S. anymore.
So glad you had a good time, and a belated happy Birthday!
Janice
Lovely pics. I’ve only been to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It was an amazing and educational experience. I would love to visit Yosemite and Yellowstone one day.
Hi, Janice!
You’ve been everywhere! I so envy you.
And the wonderful books your lovely husband Charles wrote gave us so much information on Yellowstone and the Tetons.
What a terrific couple you are.
Thank for all your encouragement on taking this trip.
We had a blast!
Dianne

What terrific pictures! Yoseite is another place I want to visit too. My kids have been there and loved it!
So many places, so little time!

I’ve been to the Grand Canyon and the painted desert and they were fantastic. i want to do yellowstone and the tetons next year. And I’ve been to the smokey mountains plenty of times. Since i live less than 3 hours away.
Hi, Pam. I hope to make it to the Grand Canyon too. Maybe one of these day!

Hi Dianne! Growing up in GA we always visited the Smokies. Started out in tents with the family, then progressed to a trailer, but somehow the kids still camped in the tents. Anyway, camping created lots of memories. I would like to go out west and see some of that country. I’ve flown over it to get to California. Maybe one day when Eddie can take a week off at one time!
I would love to see more of your pictures.
Hi, Lisa!
I love Ga. I love the South and everything about it except the bugs. Yikes, the butgs!
Out west is great except they have looong winters. I couldn’t live there because of that. I have all I can do to put up with Cincy winters.
Thanks for chatting!
