The romance world is awash in conferences and confabs, from RTs blowout coming up in April to a cluster of regional meetings across the country. Have you been to any, or checked them out?

I’ve never been to anything like that before. I would of course be going to the signing portion of the conferences and what not. I would love to go to one sometime though and just experience what its like.
I have never been, but would like to go to the signing, just once.
From what I hear it’s pretty intense — guess that happens when you get hundreds of like-minded people together for a few days. Would like to check it out too — Explosive and The Midnight Man are both up for awards at the Romantic Times conference in April.
never been, does look fun. graet authors and fun times
I’ve been to RWA twice, in Atlanta and in San Fran, and they were both fun but a bit overwhelming. I went strictly as a reader and didn’t attend the conference workshops.
I also go to Lori Foster’s/Dianne Castell’s annual Reader/Writer event in Cincinnati every year. 2009 is year #5. It’s gotten bigger, but it’s still a more comfortable environment and a great chance to meet up with friends. Plus it’s much more affordable. I highly recommend it for anyone who’s never been. Anyone interested in checking it out should go to this link:

Thanks — that’s good to know. Approx how many people participate in Lori’s and Diane’s event?
I believe last year it was close to 100 authors and 100-150 readers.
I heard from Dianne that she and Lori are expecting around 300 this year. a list of authors is on http://www.lorifoster.com
Another great, not too large, author event (not just romance ) is the Troy Booklovers Festival in Troy Ohio. http://www.aroundaboutbooks.com/book_fest__09
