Your First Brava?

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009
Cynthia Eden Icon

Do you remember the first Brava that you read?

I do. It’s still on my keeper shelf. My first Brava was an anthology, ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT. This was back in 2001, and this book introduced me to some fabulous authors like say…Shannon McKenna, Lori Foster, Thea Devine, and Suzanne Forster. Talk about a strong line-up of authors! This anthology blew me away, and, of course, I immediately had to go out and buy as many other stories by these ladies as I could.

Ah, my first Brava, but not my last.

But what was your first Brava? Do you remember it? Did you get hooked like I did?

Because I am still hooked on Bravas, and I’m still pretty stunned that I actually get to write Bravas now. Seriously, that just thrills me.

And speaking of writing my Bravas, I have another Brava release coming out in just over two months. IMMORTAL DANGER will hit the shelves of a bookstore near you on March 31, 2009. I made a book trailer for this one–I really enjoy making the trailers. I find it oddly soothing–and what does that say about me?

If you’d like to take a look, I have the trailer for IMMORTAL DANGER up on my site. (Sorry, I couldn’t get it to upload here!)

Have a wonderful week!

A Little Tea.

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009
Mary Wine Icon

I thought I’d blog about something fun today. This weekend marked my fifteenth wedding anniversary. My husband and I began searching our brains for something to do to celebrate this event about two months ago. Going out to a restaurant didn’t seem special enough. We settled on afternoon tea. After a rather interesting Saturday spent looking at the local tea houses we found one that intrigued us. So this Saturday we invited about thirty of our friends to a Victorian high tea. At last, a chance to wear one of my new Victorian bustle dresses and there by justify some of my fabric shopping! In spite of warning the tea house that we intended to show up ‘dressed’ in vintage clothing there really is no way to prepare them for the sight of so many bustles, corsets, frock coats, canes and tops hats. But it’s fun for us to watch the kitchen staff sneaking peeks out at us when we invade.
The tea was wonderful, the staff very gracious but more importantly, our friends were there to share the moment with us and I was sitting next to my best friend…the man that puts up with me!

Hugs!

The Box on the Porch

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009
Beth Williamson Icon

Yesterday I had to run a few errands and left home around noon. As I was pulling out of the driveway I saw a box on the porch.

You know, I’m like a kid at Christmas when the UPS or FedEx delivery person arrives at my house. A box delivery can only mean good things!

However I was on a tight timeline, and assisting my 12 YO with his 7th grade science project so I didn’t stop to see what it was. The entire time I was out, I was thinking about that box… and what treasures awaited me. Of course for all I knew, it was something for my husband.

However, as I discovered an hour and a half later, it was not for him. It was for me. *big stupid grin*

When I saw the return address was Kensington, I yelped and dragged the box inside. My kids looked at me, wondering what had caused me to go loopy this time (it’s not an uncommon occurrence).

After grabbing a pair of scissors, I got the box open and lo and behold, it was a box of my very first Brava book, The Education of Madeline.

It was an emotional moment, I’m not afraid to tell y’all. I took one out, saw the note from Megan (thanks Kate and Megan!!!), and held the book close.

It felt so wonderful to hold it in my hands – I felt it up (yep, sure did), pressed it to my face, and smelled it. LOL. I wonder what you must think of me now. ;)

Anyhoo, I have a wonderful box of books and each time I look at it, I grin even wider. Isn’t it a lovely day? (While it snows for the first time in 4 years outside…)

Another Monday

Karen Kelley Icon

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I’m so late getting this posted. If you saw my blog on Access Romance this morning, you know I’m busy, busy, busy. I love it! I hate not having anything to do–unless it includes housework. I can do without that.

My website has been updated and I have an excerpt from My Favorite Phantom posted, which is available now–Woo-hoo! I also have the cover posted for How To Seduce A Texan, and the mass market re-issue covers of Close Encounters of the Sexy Kind and Earth Guys Are Easy. Love them, Love them, Love them!

I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday! We had all the family here, and I cooked wayyyyy too much food. When Karl took the leftover chocolate to the fire department because I had to get it out of the house, they called him the demon from hell.  I noticed the tins were empty that Karl brought back the next day.

I’m doing a booksigning in Plano, Texas at Legacy books on Feb 7th. There will be a lot of authors signing. I’ll get the info posted on my website ASAP. I love to see some of you.

Have a great day!

New Year, New Thoughts

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009
HelenKay Dimon Icon

This is the time of year for resolutions. People make lists of things they want to do and accomplish. Many of the lists I’ve seen go like this: lose weight, stick to a budget and get published. All those sound familiar to me. And to get in the spirit I’ve been thinking about what my 2009 goals should be and have come up with a few book-related ones:

1. Read more. Sylvia Day mentioned on her blog about trying to read one book per week. I like that plan and am going to try to do the same.

2. Budget my writing time better. I can procrastinate really well. I consider myself something of an expert at it. Need to work on that.

3. Try writing a book I’ve been dying to write forever.

4. See if I can write two Hawaii-related books that have been kicking around in my head.

5. Worry less about what other authors are doing and what the market is doing and focus on the things I can control.

Anyone else have any resolutions or goals?

My First Brava – DARING THE MOON

Friday, January 2nd, 2009
Sherrill Quinn Icon

I am pleased as punch, tickled pink, high as a kite and over the moon about being one of the newest members of the Brava team. DARING THE MOON, the first in a trilogy full of werewolf yumminess, just released on January 1st.  Wonderful way for me to start out 2009!

Blurb:  It takes a lot to ruffle Taite Gibson, investigator with the Pima County Attorney’s Office. But the enormous, snarling werewolf that’s stalking her through the streets of Tucson? Yeah, that oughta do it. Those terrifying attacks convince Taite to seek out Ryder Merrick, a reclusive British horror writer reputed to know everything about werewolves, including how to kill them. Turns out he also knows how to leave her shaking with desire…

On his remote private island, Ryder can live safely with the beast inside him, unable to harm others or himself. Then Taite arrives, her lush, sweet scent and gorgeous curves tempting him to give in to every wicked hunger. And as a full moon rises, the only way to keep Taite safe from the evil that’s followed her here is to convince her to trust in an attraction that’s deeply dangerous, and wilder than she ever guessed….

5 Blue Ribbons from Romance Junkies: “Daring the Moon is Sherrill Quinn’s first novel in a dark and seductive new series, and what a stunning debut it is! From the very compelling first paragraph to the shocking conclusion, Daring the Moon is an exciting new take on the werewolf legend. The best way I can describe the tone of the novel is modern gothic, with a heavy dose of sensuality guaranteed to leave the reader breathless. Author Sherrill Quinn draws the reader in with her lush, descriptive language and intriguing characters. I’m very excited about this new series, and I can assure other lovers of paranormal romance that they will be delighted with Daring the Moon and will definitely want to add it to their keeper shelf.”
