In a little over a month, my second single-title will release from Kensington Brava. MIDNIGHT SINS will take readers back into the world I created in HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT, and, I’m sure hoping folks enjoy that trip.

Here’s the blurb for my book:

Cara Maloan doesn’t look like a monster. In fact, the gorgeous blond nightclub singer possesses heavenly attributes that make Atlanta detective Todd Brooks sure there’s a higher power somewhere. But a twisted killer is leaving a trail of bodies in seedy hotel rooms across town. The male victims show no wounds–it’s as if the life was simply drained from them. And right now, mysterious Cara is Todd’s only suspect.

Cara knows it’s foolish to be so drawn to a man who thinks she’s a murderer. She also knows Detective Brooks would find the truth even harder to swallow. Cara is one of the Others, a race of powerful, paranormal creatures who live among humans. Cara’s particular abilities make men putty in her hands–all except this rugged, sexy-as-hell detective. But now someone, or something, has singled Cara out for serious payback…

As uneasy trust gives way to mind-blowing desire, Cara and Todd will go head-to-head with a killer whose mission is deeply personal, and who’s determined to serve up revenge that’s hotter than hellfire, and just as deadly…

Want to win an early (& autographed) copy of MIDNIGHT SINS? I’ll make the contest very simple–promise! Halloween is sneaking up on us–ah, I do love my paranormal holiday–and I’d like to hear about your Halloween traditions. So, to win an autographed copy of MIDNIGHT SINS, just tell me about one of your favorite Halloween traditions. I’ll be back on Saturday, and I’ll pick one commenter to win.

And here’s my tradition to get things started: Every year, I throw a big Halloween party for my son. Costumes, candy, and apple-bobbing. :-) I am a terrible apple bobber, but it sure is fun!

  1. Ann M. Says:

I love the chocolate. :) Really buys into my chocoholic side.

  2. Barb Patrick Says:

Hi Cynthia! Something that has gotten to be a tradition for our family, is participating in my husbands business assoc. Safe Trick-or-Treat event. My husband, son and I dress up and pass out candy to all the trick-or-treaters. We bring in lunch/dinner for all the employees to eat, while we get ready, and decorate the business. I love watching all of the kids go by in their costumes, and my son has a great time passing out candy! It really is a lot of fun. Thanks for the contest!

  3. Crystal B. Says:

We make caramel apples and popcorn balls and have a movie night.

  4. Edie Says:

We already have our decorations out. We have a decorative windmill, about ten feet tall, on our front lawn. My husband takes off the windmill part and replaces it with a big plastic pumpkin that lights up when plugged in. Then he wraps black shiny material around the base. From the street, it looks like an extremely tall person punpkinheaded creature dressed in a black cape.

  5. Lori T. Says:

Every Halloween…my sister, brother, and I take our kids and head to my Mom’s house. She has cooked up a pot of some warm and tasty dinner for us…as it always snows or is freezing here in Wyoming…we gather all our kids and take Halloween pictures and then go trick or treating together. Now, that my oldest two daughters have kids of the their own…they head over too. It is a fun way to spend the night.

  6. Pamk Says:

we ususally take the kiddos Trick or Treating but this will be first year than neither of them wanted to go. So me might just have a family halloween night. Might invite the folks and just do a simple everyone bring a dish dinner and see how that goes. We could watch halloween movies on tv and just enjoy a quiet night in.

  7. Kelly Says:

We order pizza delivery and watch an old horror show while handing out candy. After the the little ones in the nieghborhood are through trick or treating we turn off the lights and watch a really scary movie or two

  8. Brandy Says:

We don’t have anything major on Halloween, but Hubs take the kids and their friends trick-or-treating in the neighborhood while I stay home and hand out Candy. After trick-or-treating is over we check over the candy and pop in a dvd for the kids. After the kids are in bed hubs and I usually end up watching The Rocky Horror Picture Show, something I had never seen before I married my hubs! *G*

  9. Cathy M Says:

The Saturday before Halloween is pumpkin carving and caramel apple day. Started this tradition when my boys were home, and my dh and I still do it together. Though we’ve got it down to just him carving, and me supervising, lol.

  10. Yan Says:

I love to scare at least one of the trick-or-treaters

  11. Teresa W. Says:

Every year my girlfriend and her husband and kids come over and we take turns handing out candy and taking the kids around. Afterwards we usually order pizza and go through the kids candy and then we watch a scary movie together. This is my favorite time of the year, I enjoy seeing all the different costumes that the kids come up with!

  12. acdaisy77 Says:

Watch a scary movie with the family.

  13. Estella Says:

We are retired senior citizens, so we love to stay home and pass out goodies to the costumed goblins.

  14. Jane Says:

We don’t really have a tradition, but we do buy a bag of candy to hand out to the kids who trick or treat. I do like shopping for Halloween decorations.

  15. Fedora Says:

We’re not huge on Halloween, but the kids do love the chance to dress up :) Our church is doing a carnival-type get together on Halloween, so we’ll bring the kids there to get a chance to play some games and get their candy fix  BTW, congrats on Midnight Sins! It sounds like a winner!

  16. Vicky B Says:

Every year on Halloween, since I’m not one to dress up and go to parties, my mom and I sit down with pizza or ice cream, or something else equally as unhealthy, and watch The Nightmare Before Christmas

  17. Greta Says:

I always dress up somehow someway. When I was in highschool I went to class dressed in a costume, when I was in college – and even now that I’m employed fulltime. I always try and think of something outrageous. One year I was the WFE wrestling star Kane, One year I was a zombie, one year a skeleton a clown.

  18. Rhonda Says:

We used to :( go to dhs best friend’s house for their haunted house/carport. It’s a fun story, this guy’s family has been doing this haunted house for years, and it has traveled from family member to family member as the kids got older or moved out. It gets added to each year and they have some really cool stuff, but our friend’s child grew up and the haunted house stuff moved on to another family member who just lives too far away to go on Halloween night!

Besides I’m a chicken, it’s amazing I entered a séance room to have a picture made (which I posted) but of course I didn’t know what that room was for when I went in!

Oh and don’t enter me! I just wanted to say hello!

  19. Cheryl McInnis Says:

My husband takes the girls out trick or treating after they finish carving their jack o’ lanterns. The dog and I pass out candy, and okay, we eat some too  When the girls get home, we watch a scary movie like Monsters Inc or Garfield’s Halloween. When the kids go to bed my husband and I dig through their massive bags of candy and pick out our favorites, lol. We don’t have a very exciting life I’m afraid!

  20. Amy S. Says:

I usually take my nieces and nephew trick or treating. When I get back, I usually watch a scary movie.

  21. Pat L. Says:

I love chocolate and always buy the plain m&m’s and peanut funsize. I like the plain, not the peanut; this way I can have some and not be tempted by the other. The funsize is a decent size bar to give out. My daughter always makes fun of me getting the same thing.

  22. Allison Says:

Carve a pumpkin (or two) – my guy does a great job at that. And give out the sweet treats – that I chose :) – to all our little night visitors!

  23. Susan Says:

Aside from hiding the Halloween candy from my dad? We watch the original ‘Halloween’ movie and eat popcorn.

  24. Pam P Says:

Everyone heads over to my younger sister’s every year, as she goes all out decorating inside and out, as does the whole neighborhood, so the kids love trick or treating there, and want all of us to come over and rave over their costumes. After trick or treating is done, we all go back to her house to eat and drink all the halloween goodies she makes, and I see what candy I can get them to give up for me, lol.

  25. Amy Says:

Buying the candy at the very last minute. Literally I get it a few minutes right before the first trick or treaters arrive at my door.

  26. Scooper Says:

This is the first year I’ve ever done Halloween in my life and my kids are pretty excited about it. We’re going to a church for a trunk or treat.

  27. Shari C Says:

We don’t do anything at our house for Halloween as we go to another couple’s home for the holiday and help make it a real ‘trick or treat’ occasion. They change their whole house into a haunted place and we all get into costume for not only the children that come to the door, but for the party we have inside for their children and friends, and anyone else they have invited. It is a fun time for everyone with lots of food, candy and chocolate, spooky games, witchy laughter and tricky times.

  28. catslady Says:

Oh it happened last night. Every year some family members/friends get together and carve pumpkins – enjoy some food and have a great time. The competition is fierce. lol not really. This year the youngest was my 21 year old (it started when they were kids) and the oldest was my mom at 86! Oh and roasted pumpkin seeds for all!

  29. Cynthia Eden Says:

Hi, everyone! I apologize for not posting the winner’s name earlier today–I had a Halloween party for my son today (our tradition) and was busy with about 10 toddlers. :-)

But, I want to thank you all for sharing your traditions with me–I loved reading them!

And the winner is commenter #7, Kelly! Congratulations, Kelly! Please email me at cynthia@cynthiaeden.com to claim your prize.

    Have a great Halloween!
