Yesterday was the release date of my first bad boys anthology, EVERLASTING BAD BOYS. (Oh, yes, I’m still celebrating!) I love Brava’s Bad Boys books, and I was absolutely thrilled to be included in this paranormal romance anthology with uber talented authors Shelly Laurenston and Noelle Mack.

My contribution to this anthology is “Spellbound“–a novella about a desperate witch and the soul-hunter who comes to her aid. Here’s a brief excerpt from my tale:

****************************************************************************

“I’ll find the one after you.” It wouldn’t be easy. The hunts never were. The psychotics were always smarter than they appeared, twisting and turning and leaving a tangled mess for him to sort out. “But it will cost you.”

That hope flared even brighter in her gaze and her whole face seemed to light up. Not pretty, beautiful. “My coven will—”

“Not your coven, sweetheart.” He wasn’t interested in the others. No, he only cared about the witch who’d drained her powers to summon him.

And then offered the man feared by all anything.

“What do you want?” No fear. Good, because he’d never wanted fear in his women.

“You.”

She shook her head. “I don’t understand.” But the dawning realization was in her eyes and her voice pitched too high in his mind. Lie.

Luis didn’t call her on the falsehood. There would be time for that, later. Just as there would be time for much, much more. “You will, witch. You will.” Because he wasn’t just talking about sex. A few hours of mindless pleasure.

He wanted all of her. Body, and soul.

The hunt was on.

****************************************************************************

I had a GREAT time writing this particular novella. Creating my very own bad boy was a real treat. Those bad boys have such an appeal to me. They’re dangerous, they’re wild–and always unpredictable.

Is there a good bad boy character that you’ve red about or seen on TV? Some of my favorites (after my soul-hunter, Luis, of course) are Spike and Riddick from Pitch Black. Go ahead, share your favorites with me!

  1. Jane Says:

    Hi Cynthia,
Sawyer from “Lost” is a favorite, but I’ve recently developed a thing for Don Draper from “Mad Men,” the show on AMC about ad men in the 1960’s. I’m not sure if he qualifies as a bad boy, but he’s definitely not a sympathetic character.

  2. Brandy Says:

Ooh, Riddick for sure! Brendan Fraisier from The Mummy. And I know that David Boreanz plays a good guy on Bones, but he does make a good bad boy. *G*
    Congratulations on your release!

  3. Cynthia Eden Says:

Hi, Jane! Oh, I love Sawyer! Thanks for mentioning him.

Brandy, I am so glad you sure my Riddick love. LOL. And Brendan–yes! Thank you for the cognrats!

  4. Liza Says:

I love Sawyer from Lost and Spike from Buffy.

Congrats on the new release! I’ll have to look for it this weekend at the bookstore.

  5. Amy S. Says:

I liked Oded Fehr’s character on The Mummy.

  6. limecello Says:

I can’t believe I can’t think of his name – but Jared’s brother (who was a super bad guy) in “The Pretender” – he now has his own show, Burn Notice.

  7. Zoe Winters Says:

I love Spike obviously. I also have a weirdo soft spot for Angelus. (Hey, he was good to Darla, even when he was evil.)

And Sawyer from LOST, and Jayne from Firefly (there’s a definite pattern going on here.)

I loved Cole in Charmed when he went evil. Yes, I would have dated him, bad. Because little Zoe apparently has no self preservation instincts. :P

  8. Caffey Says:

Hi Cynthia!! Can I pick Bones please :)
Not much of a TV or movie person (can you believe I never saw Spike or Angel that many speak of!?!). I think it would be Mick from MOONLIGHT (Gosh, they really have to bring this show back, I finally watch some TV and its cancelled!!)
    But he was excellent! Sigh…

  9. Caffey Says:

Hi Cynthia!! Can I pick Colin please :) (I at first was typing more and didn’t put him in, I was back and forth trying to remember his partner’s name and so curious about him that I had to go and read excerpt on Todd in MIDNIGHT SINS coming next from you!

  10. Cynthia Eden Says:

Thank you, Liza! And it seems like we share the same taste in bad boys. LOL.

Hi, Amy! Oh, yeah, I thought he was great! Didn’t he also play in Resident Evil 2 and 3? Or am I having a crazy moment?

Limecello, my husband is addicted to Burn Notice. And, I am so glad you mentioned The Pretender–I used to love that show! I always wanted Jared and the chick who was after him to get together.

Ah, Zoe, self-preservation? Bah! I would have dated bad Cole, too–and I would have had so much fun.

Caffey, I *wish* they would bring Moonlight back. Just when I get attached to a show–wham. Gone. I couldn’t wait to watch that show each week.
And you can most definitely pick Colin, lady! Last night, my husband finished reading Midnight Sins (he got a sneak peak) and at 1 a.m., the man woke me up to debate Colin and Todd’s strengths. I could only blink at him, going, “What?” He also wanted to know who I thought would win in a fight–Luis from “Spellbound” or Niol from Hotter After Midnight. I think the man may be getting too involved in my stories.

  11. Fedora Says:

I’ve kind of liked the bad-boys from Star Wars’ Han Solo :) And Cynthia, Luis is hot! How funny that your husband woke you to debate the strengths of your various heroes! What a man!

  12. Zoe Winters Says:

awwww yay Cindy! I’m glad I’m not the only person who would have dated bad Cole!
