In quiring minds want to know: how do you want your authors? If you were to meet us in the flesh, how would you want to do so?
The opportunities for an author are abundant – but what do you prefer?
Do you want to chat or just get your books signed? Or a mix? Intimacy with an author or two – or a big group situation where you can see lots of authors at once?
Do you like us at booksignings? Would you prefer us at an intimate weekend conference? A cozy dinner party? A rowdy conference where we can talk about Anything?
Please tell!
Diane, eager for signposts through the jungle

Well, I attend Lori Foster’s & Dianne Castell’s June reader/writer event in June – this is the 4th year and it’s a very relaxed setting where you can do just about all of the above – chat with authors, either in a large group or smaller one, have dinner with them, have them sign books. It’s great fun. I do better in a smaller setting since I’m more reserved, but this event really is very comfortable and inviting, with several authors that I adore.
Thanks, Stacy! I’m bringing my mother with me to Lori Foster & Dianne Castell’s gathering this June for all the reasons you mention. I chose this event for her because everyone said it was so friendly and relaxed. My mother loves to read romance novels and this sounds like a great opportunity for her to hang out with other readers, as well as meet some of her favorite authors.
Okay, I admit I expect to be told at least once to go away, she’s happily schmoozing an author or two. LOL
But that’s why reader/writer gatherings are so much fun!

I have never been to a multi author signing and only two one author signings.
I loved chatting with the authors while they were signing my books.
I’ve only met one author is person at a book fair/conference for my State. She signed my book and was very nice and I have no idea what else to expect!
Glad you enjoyed yourselves, Estella and Brandy! I enjoy the questions I get from readers at signings. Sometimes they give me the most incredible insights into books.
But then there are the authors who do a lot of booksignings so their fans know where to find them. Nora Roberts signs regularly at her husband’s bookstores in a tiny Maryland town, where I was once lucky enough to be part of a big group signing. One lady came by and Nora recognized her (!) as having been pregnant the last time she’d been there. It became a reunion with Nora wanting to see baby pictures, then meet the actual baby who was waiting outside with grandmother. And of course, pictures had to be taken with Nora, mother, grandmother, and the future romance reader.

I have only met one author and that was at the Barnes & Noble close to me. That would be so much fun to meet a bunch of authors at a convention! I have never had the opportunity to go to one though. They are always held so far away from where I live.
I have never been to a multi author signing either. Have really enjoyed the signings I have been to – would love to attend a conference with a bunch of authors, or maybe a luncheon – it would be wonderful to meet and chat with several at one time.
I have been lucky enuf to attend signings by Nora Roberts, Barbara Delinsky, Suzanne Brockmann, James Patterson, & Dave Barry and even Erin Brocovich. They were all wonderful and entertaining speakers.
That’s great that you’re bringing your mother with you. I’ll be there again this year because it is such a great time! Very laid back and casual, with everybody super friendly.
Does your mother read your books?
