Usually I’d be cooking up a minor storm today. Some corned beef and cabbage, fried potatoes and onions and maybe even a shot or two of Bailey’s in my coffee while performing the above. Unfortunately with the DH’s continuing cardiac issues, not to mention my seriously needing to reach “THE END” like right now, the usual SPD M.O. just ain’t gonna happen in the Denton household this year.
So, in honor of one of my favorite holidays, and cuz I can’t celebrate, I’m going to make this really, REALLY easy today. Tell me what y’all are doing to celebrate this glorious day, and I’ll throw your name into the green hat for a chance to win a $10 Barnes & Noble gift card.
Check back Tuesday morning to see if you’re the winner.
Oh yeah! And a Happy St. Paddy’s Day to you!
UPDATE: And the winner is….#7 Wendy! Congratulations Wendy. Drop me an email at jamie@jamiedenton.net with your mailing address and uh…I’ll send the DH to the post office. ![]()

Working! Can’t even wear green, but I’ll be green in spirit (yeah, with envy LOL) Daylight Savings Time is killing me, so I’m thinking I just want to come home, crash, and watch a DVD. Thrilling, I know…
I’m also working today, and I’ll probably do the same when I get home and pop in a DVD. I have two picks to choose from Good Luck Chuck or Mr. Woodstock. Has anybody seen either one and can sway me to the one to watch first. Happy St. Patrick’s Day everybody.
Top O’ tha morning to ya, Jamie!
So far, wearing the green shirt, clover earrings and shamrock socks. We usually do the corned beef and cabbage today, too.
Other than that, the most exciting thing I’ll be doing today, other than working, is watching Dancing with the Stars!
I am wearing a bit of green … does that count?
I intend to write a whole bunch today, and that is celebration enough!
I’ve got my green sweater on and yesterday I made corned beef since I have to work today. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Don’t really do much on SPD anymore, not since my days of going to Paddy McGee’s, a local Irish Pub, and drinking the afternoon away singing those corny Irish tunes. Alas, those days are gone now, so I think I’ll celebrate by have a wee drop of Rum Dry & Lime. Lime…that counts…it’s green!
Happy St. Patrick’s day!
Well, I have no money to go out, no car because it’s at the shop so I’m staying in eating Hershey chocolates, reading and wearing green underwear. Who says I’m not festive?
Well, we already had our corned beef and cabbage last week. . . and well, I’m not going anywhere, so I don’t have anything green on. . . but I am watching the History of St Patrick’s Day on the History Channel!
Oh, and my kitty does have a green blanket, now that I think of it. LOL
Lois
Well the kids all wore green and I made some green eggs and ham this morning. Oh, and some green milk!
Well, today is my friend’s birthday. So, we’re going out to dinner and then meeting some other friends to go bowling. Outside that, I’m wearing green.
It is a work day for me as well. Saturday we did the McGuire’s Irish Pub 5K (walk). It is the local Irish Pub. Had a good time and drank Green beer.
so that is us!!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I am working today. I wore green.
No big plans for the evening. Just relaxing after work.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day. I missed the parade on tv, but I’ll be having corned beef, potatoes and cabbage for dinner. I don’t think we’re having green beer, but I settle for some wine.
Let’s see, I sent Hubs out of the house in a green shirt, found Son some green undies (because he can’t fing his green button) and will attend Yoga tonight on my green matt. I’m allergic to beer, so no green beer tonight, but I do keep switching the tv over to QVC because they have the St.Patrick’s Day Celebration on and I love hearing the accents! *G* Did you know that corned beef is an AMERICAN Irish tradition? So, don’t feel bad. Does soda bread fit into his diet? It’s easy to make. *g*
Happy St. Patricks Day!
Driving my husband 70 miles to the Dr. and sitting in the waiting room , and then driving home.
Hi Jamie,
Hopefully they have something like corned beef and potato pancakes on the menu!
Happy St. Patty’s Day! Sorry to hear about your husband and I hope everything is ok! As to what I’m doing to celebrate… work. Haha, it’s the first day of my spring break, and I went to job 1, a meeting, and didn’t make it to job 2 [it's ok - I don't have a set schedule.] I actually did wear green today -and it’s even a dress. [I thought I'd have to go into court for job #2.] Also, because I own only 3 green things, so my wardrobe choices are limited. I’m then going to dinner with friends, as a last minute thing.
I miss being with a huge group of friends - in college we crammed about 30 people in a room, and ate all sorts of Irish food - I made too many potato pancakes to count, and someone set off the fire alarm - the fire dept wasn’t happy to see how the guys took care of the alarm (they dismantled it.) Oh, the fun and memories.
I hope you have a great day!
We celebrate birthdays on St. Paddy’s Day, two in fact, for my twin boys who turn 25 today. Only one is at home to celebrate, the other is stationed in Georgia, so I had a great time sending him all kinds of Irish goodies. And do you know how hard it is to find Irish fun stuff to surprise them with every year? I start my hunt at Christmas! Always have a big corned beef dinner with any family in the area, followed by their favorite chocolate cake and presents. Always a fun day.
Well I have been cleaning house today. But I did make sure that I wore my green today in honor of St. Patrick’s day. Just finished mopping the floors.
We are doing nothing much otehr than have a nice family supper
Worked all day, wearing my green top! I love green! Ate Mexican tonight and I’m ready to watch the CBS comedies tonight - all new shows for the first time since the strike! Yippee!!!
working and sleeping today
working today and then playing a little bit on web.
Didn’t do much this year, either, though I did get Irish soda bread my sister baked, no green beer, though. Hope things improve for your husband soon.
We went to a casino and although I didn’t win I had a ball and got a free St. Patrick’s Day t-shirt.
Jamie, my hubby’s Irish and I usually would make the corn beef and cabbage but I’m full bed rest so I figured just probably something from the freezer. But my hubby was texting to my daughter on what he wanted and she made it for him in a slow cooker all day! Thats basically our tradition, a quiet nite at home and once a year corn beef!
