Holiday Books

So… did you give away any books for the holidays? Did you receive any?

I didn’t technically get any books for presents, but just before Christmas I had a few friends send me ARCs of their upcoming books, which rocks, of course.

I gave my sister some books on how to Feng Shui her home. About a year ago, I used Feng Shui design in my office and I’ve been happy with it. I’ve been trying to get the rest of my family on board ever since. I did give away some coverflats of my upcoming January 8th fantasy release, but that’s not the same thing as a book, I know. I’ve been running a blog contest all month with daily book prizes, but again, not the same thing as a present. So non-fiction Feng Shui was the sum total of my book gifts this year.

Did you manage to be a better book giver than me?

I did give Spawn 2 (aka my 16 yr old son!) a book on magic/card tricks. He is getting really good at sleight of hand!

Does an ‘Easy Reader’ book with a Spider Man story count? *G* I gave that to my Son and a Serenity Graphic Novel to my hubs. I didn’t get any books for Christmas either, though. ALTHOUGH, I did receive lovely giftcards to the bookstore!

I gave 4 gift cards to Barnes and Nobles - 3 of them went to kids (age 9-14) so they could buy their own books and one to my nephew (age 38). Closest I came to giving books!

    Hey, Syl~~
You KNOW I had to give books away for Christmas, since they are one of my favorite things!!
I gave my Mom some Monk books, she loves him…and some Mary Higgins Clark Christmas stories. Sent my niece in TX a big ‘ole box with ALOT of books in it. She loves to read the same things I love, but no good bookstore close to where she is…at least not where Romance is concerned. So for every B day, Christmas, and chance I can I send her a “care” box of books.

I only gave one book myself this year, a cook book to my hubby. He has turned very creative in the kitchen lately, and I get the added benny of not having to cook! Always a good thing.

The closest to books I gave was a B&N gift card to each of my Grandchildren - along with their other presents. They both love to read and they can pick out their own books this way.

I got a B&N gift card, and one of the books I bought was “Spymaster’s Lady” by Joanna Bourne, which I’ve been reading rave reviews for. As a Secret Santa, I gave Suzanne Brockmann’s “All Through The Night”, a favorite of mine.

Yes, I gave out some books this year. I gave a Susan Wiggs book, and a Sheryl Woods book to one friend for Christmas. I gave another friend, 3 books, can’t remember all their titles. She is a book lover. I hit a home run that I bought her books she hasn’t read yet.

I received many books this year. Lot’s from contests, authors, friends, and bought some at my favorite bookstore.

    Happy New Year!
