Betwixt and Between

Here it is, Thursday December 27th, and I’m wondering what to do. Should I start one of my holiday resolutions early? Yeah, that’s it: Go on the big diet just before New Year’s Eve! Or start writing the next Devil’s book when I’m sure William’s son plans to save the heroine from the villainous French spy but he hasn’t told me how he plans to accomplish it?

Hmm, maybe I won’t start a big project right away.

Or should I putter my way through my ever-increasing list of short projects? How about terrorizing my credit card balances at a post-Christmas sale? Or there’s the new Johnny Depp movie, which I only need to see once. (And if you believe that, there’s this bridge in Brooklyn…) Or clean my house, which is still covered in piles of wrapping paper supplies and baking goods?

Of course, I absolutely must say hello to my friends – especially those enjoying a quiet time before life gets hectic again after New Year’s. And I could try sleeping in a couple of times…

What do you do between Christmas and New Year’s? Do you start big projects, work on several smaller projects, or simply enjoy the quieter pace during the holidays?

    I enjoy the quieter pace and stay as far away from the malls as I can. This is the time to catch up on some of the reading and maybe take a couple of books from my TBR pile - so I can add more to them in the New Year…….. :smile:

    It’s almost a self-defeating action to take on the “big new diet” between now and New Year’s Eve, don’t you think?

    I think between now and the New Year, the plan is to:
    1)Put away all the Christmas gifts;
    2)Clean the house to start the new year off being able to see my floor and not write my MS in the dust;
    3) Read a book

    Happy New Year Diane!

    I too love the quieter pace, Cryna. I actually managed to finally read a new author’s 2 books in my TBR pile. (Yay, me!) Of course, there’s another new author’s 3 books smiling at me - plus AGNES & THE HITMAN and…

    Why do you have to be so right, ArkansasCyndi, about starting a “big new diet” early? Of course, here I am with my SIL’s fabulous care package smiling at me, full of yummy cookies and such. Surely a diet can wait a few more days, no matter what my jeans’ waistband says?

    Glad to hear you got so many gifts you’ll need lots of time to put them away! http://www.bravaauthors.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

    My husband wants to put everything away and I want to savor the moment - we end up doing a little of both :mrgreen:

  5. Brandy Says:

    Between the holidays, I usually manage to spend my gift card to the bookstore (done, one anyway), write Thank You notes, READ, READ, clean, take down the tree and oh, yeah, read! *g*

  6. Estella Says:

    I do the same things between Christmas and New Years as I do all during the year. Cook, clean, read, sew, visit blogs, etc.

  7. Diane Whiteside Says:

    LOL, Catslady! Maybe compromise is the true spirit of this season.

    Wow, Brandy, more than one bookstore gift card? You lucky girl! You’re definitely going to have a lot of fun reading. I got a lot of gift cards at clothing stores, since last year’s diet was so successful. Still have a lot of work to do on next year’s diet, though.

    Yo, Estella, visiting familiar friends sounds wonderful! Read, visit blogs… I’ll bet the cooking and sewing makes you very popular with your pals.

  8. Stacy ~ Says:

    I think of it as a brief period of relaxation before the new year starts, along with the craziness. And this year I’ve found a fun way to start saving money so I’m more prepared for the insanity of spending 12 months from now LOL. But until then, I’m going to sit back, read, watch some DVDs and savor the quiet.

  9. Cynthia Eden Says:

    Diane, I have to confess…I’ve already seen the new Johnny Depp movie. :grin: And I think I’m gonna have to see it again. I found it dark and brilliant and just wonderful.
