A lot of you have heard me say that commitment is by far the biggest female fantasy of all, and never mind the throbbing whatevers. However, for those of us who have been married and even some of us who haven't, the ring and veil and shrimp puffs are just not that big a thrill. Forever and forever is, though. Female hearts LOVE forevering. So the hero pretty much has to promise her that. Somehow. Romance conventions dictate that red-gowned, fickle-hearted Jezebels don't get forevered.
