This past weekend my chapter, New Jersey Romance Writers, had a booth at one of the local street fairs. It was a festive, if very long, day. Lots of people stopped by to find out more about romance fiction and to buy books. We got a few people who said I don’t read romance, and walked on. But a lotwanted to hear more, some avid readers and some who didn’t read romances, but ended up buying books.
But what I found amazing were the number of peole who were writing books, planning on writing, or wished they had time to write. Especially husbands and boyfriends were anxious to tell us all about their ideas.
It was pretty cool. Like finding unexpected friends at a party where you didn’t think you knew anyone.
Coupled with all the entries we received for the Brava Novella contest (Good Luck, everybody!) It made me think about the need people feel to put their ideas down on paper.
How about you? Do you write, or want to? Or is reading just as satisfying?

Reading is enough for me.
Gemma it was a pleasure meeting you yesterday at the Westfield NJ Street Fair
Not sure if you will remember I am LindaH I was with my fiance the one who said he reads motivational books *G* Hey I don’t mind him reading those kind of books I do as well but I do love a good romance with some hot scenes in them as well. I bought a copy of your book Who Wants To Be A Sex Goddess? I can’t wait to read it. Btw I do have the picture I took of you & Irene Peterson. I will be happy to email it to you.
I never thought about writing so reading is satisfying to me
Hugssss
LindaH
I want to be a writer and try to write daily to continue my improvement. I entered the Brava Contest and can only pray that divine intervention will make me a finalist. LOL Just kidding, I wish everyone luck and consider the contest just a stepping stone in my learning process.
FOr me, reading is just fine.
Of course I have no idea if in the future I might consider trying to write something. But for me, for a long time thus far and a long time to come, just reading will still be fine for me.

I wanted to go to it but 2 things stopped me. 1) fell and broke my hip so I am recouperating in a wheelchair and 2) knew my dh would not have the patience to wheel me around in crowds.
