Hi!!!!
I finally made it to my laptop to write about 9:30 last night. I snuggled down into my favorite chair and pulled up my book. Ahhh, I had just started a love scene. I really enjoy writing love scenes.
I had my new headset on and the sounds of Enya were playing softly in the background as I began to read what I wrote the day before. There was only one small light on, casting a soft glow in the room.
***Cal (that just screams cowboy—Cal) Cal brushed her hair away from her face, his knuckles grazing her cheek. Nikki (doesn’t her name just scream city???) leaned into his caress. “I want you,” he said, his words were hoarse with need. A shiver of excitement ran over her…
Eghhhh! A damned cricket landed on my arm! What is it with all the crickets? We’ve had a really wet year so that might be it. This was a very tenacious cricket, though because it kept coming back. Maybe it wanted to read what I was writing. Do crickets get horny? They must because I think the ones around our house are mass producing. I don’t like crickets. They rank about 4th on my list of creepy, crawly things that I want to avoid. Try writing a love scene with them jumping all over the place. And I think they’re blind. They thump into walls. Thump, thump, thump!
And the noise! Ugh! They can’t be quiet like a normal bug. No, these bugs are fearless. Think about it, who wants to step on one of them. They crunch! E-yuck!
Okay, now that I’ve grossed everyone out, I’m going to open my laptop and get busy. I’m blogging at the Knight agency tomorrow–stop by and say hi! I promise I won’t even mention crickets.

I have never seen a cricket, because we don’t have them here. But from the way I have read about them from others I am going to say thank God!!

Congrats on the wet season. We are currently expierencing a drought and it sucks. As for crickets, I agree the noise they make is god awful and the sight of them is cringe worthy.
I hope the writing went better today. I should be writing. LOL
Boy, talk about ruining the moment! We’ve finally been getting rain here in Chicago, but man, it’s sooo humid it’s like breathing in wool all day long, and it makes you so tired and groggy.
We have crickets, in fact I can hear them now, but a few months back we had cicadas…well, supposedly we did. They come out in droves every 17 years (?) but I didn’t see one. Some of my friends and co-workers did though. Supposedly they’re quite edible - taste like almonds. Sorry, but I’m not eating anything with beady red eyes - yuck!
Karen, one of the benefits of having my two cats is that they take care of the crickets and other creepy crawlers that make their way into the house.
