My keeper shelf is overflowing. Well, technically, it’s not a shelf anymore. It’s a closet. One with books stacked higher than I stand.
Madness.
Joy.
I love finding books that I want to read again and again. I love characters that make me laugh. Or make me worry. Or, well, just really make me feel.
I have books in my keeper closet that are over fifteen years old. Books that I once scavenged the countryside trying to find. Like Jayne Castle’s series about Guinevere Jones. Whoa. Talk about a flashback. Does anyone remember those?
I’ve got old tales, some that once garnered the coveted 5 star review from the Romantic Times. (I don’t think they give that many stars anymore!) I’ve got new stories. Sexy paranormals that I read when I’m wanting a pick-me-up.
So many books. So many wonderful writers.
What about you? Do you have a keeper shelf? (Or perhaps a closet?) And do you have any great keepers that you’d like to name?
Have a great weekend!

I have keeper books in boxes, because they over ran the shelves. Some of them go back many years. I have Suzanne Brockmann’s original Tall Dark and Dangerous Series as well as everything since the first book “Prince Joe”. There are so many older series in the boxes from Maggie Price, Merline Lovelace, Beverly Barton (the original books that started her Protectors series)and many, many more wonderful authors. So many memories. Great topic
I am as bad…I have about 8 boxes full of books stored away, plus a pile in the closet…..same as you, some of my books are over 15 years or more old, lol.
Thank goodness I am not the only one!!
My husband thinks I have lost my mind because I have so many keeper books!I am on my 4th moving box as we speak…
My poor husband has to keep building shelves because I have so many favorite books that I can’t part with …
Oh, the fun of the keepers! It’s good to know that others hoard these books just like I do!
Hi, I dont keep many - I have maybe 20 and some are:
Three Wishes - Barbara Delinsky
A Rose for Maggie - Kathleen Korbel
Rawhide Man - Diana Palmer
Sarah’s Child - Linda Howard
Borrowed Dreams - Debbie Macomber
Fever and Too Hot to Handle by Eliz. Lowell
Lady’s Man - Suzanne Simmons
Tessa’s Child - Dallas Schulze
Lorraine Heath: Always to Remember and Parting Gifts
I can’t bear to part with any of the books I read! My dad swears the floor is going to give way in my room under the weight of all the books.
I have several hundred keeper books. My fil just built me this great bookcase a couple of months ago(I still have to have 2cases). I have Christina Dodd, Julie Garwood,Judith McNaught, to many of them. I don’t keep all of them, I give some to my friends and then the local library.
Every book is a keeper book honestly!!! If my house ever catches fire, it’s going to be one hell of a blaze lol.
Pat, you named four books in my closet! I’ve got Fever, Too Hot to Handle, Rawhide Man, and Sarah’s Child. Love those books!
And all of this talk about new bookshelves is making me seriously envious!
Cynthia, wasnt that ending in Sarah’s Child so gutwrenching? I will never forget it.
I have a keeper bookcase filled with books by J.D. Robb, Janet Evanovich, Linda Howard, Catherine Coulter, Tess Gerristen to name a few. Because my space is limited, I can’t keep to many.
Pat, I will admit–completely without shame–that I tear up every single time I read Sarah’s Child.
Dru, I’m hitting the limited space problem now (unless I can find another closet!).
I have three bookcases stacked so full the shelves are bending. Yikes! Can you tell I’m a book-a-holic?
Oh me, I always keep my books. Well, I have gotten rid of some romances that I wasn’t thrilled with when I finished, but otherwise I’m a keeper.
Just can’t stand the idea that I don’t have a book in the house that I might want to reread sometime in the future, even if there are thousands of others that I could reread first. LOL

I have tons of books on my keeper shelfs. My favorites are my collection of Nora Roberts and Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I have so many other authors I couldn’t possibly list them all.
I was lucky enough to find a Guinevere Jones by Jayne Ann Krentz last year! My keeper shelves are pretty big, but I did find that I purged about 20 books off them within the last month. But, I still have the original Jennifer Crusie’s Getting Rid of Bradley and Anyone But You. (When they were Harlequin’s.)
Hi Everyone!
This is a fun subject isn’t it? I love to read and the list everyone provided was fun to see! I too have all of Janet Evanovich’s books, Carly Phillips, Vicki Lewis Thompson, Kate Collins(she is an author in my home town of the flower shop mystery books), Valerie Frankel, Sophie Kinsella, Julie Leto, Jennifer Crusie, J.K. Rowling, and so many others! I have some oldies by Victoria Holt, Phyllis A. Whitney, etc. I have a lot of autographed books of new authors and old authors. Those are my favorites!
Then there is my TBR pile! Oh gosh that is going on 80 or so books! I can’t seem to pass up books when I see a good one or if my favorite authors have a new one out.
Michele, you’re right–it is fun to see all the great lists. Now I’m wanting to dive into my closet and start pulling out some of these keepers!
The first one that pops into my mind is “The Bride Price” by Ginna Gray. I read it years and years ago and never forgot it. I later tracked it down online and it’s been on my shelf ever since. It’s not going anywhere!
