It’s nearly here…summer that is. Yippeeeee! Thank heaven! I am so tired of winter and snow and ice and cold and gray. Cincy gets lots of gray. But now the sky is blue, I’ve planted a bazillion flowers and summer is right around the corner. So, as seasons change does your reading preference?

What about those summer books. You know, the books for the beach or baseball books or roadtrip books? Do you read summer theme books in the summer? Does it put you in the mood to be more summery or doesn’t the season matter all that much what season is in the book. Do you read Christmas books anytime and beach books in the dead of winter? I do this, reminds me that it will…some day…be summer again.

Have you ever gotten a season idea from a book? Like a vacation book and you thought, Gee I think I’ll go there for vacation? What about a tradition? Ever make a family tradition from a book one of your own? I’ve done this. I can’t remember which book but the whole family went back to mom’s and dad’s for Sunday dinner. Now I do that with my own family. It’s worked out great. 

So, are there summer reads in your future? Trips? Traditions?

Hugs, Dianne

I’m up for any summer themed novels now… oooh, especially anthologies
The only trip I hope to make is one to Maryland to see my mother.

  2. Brandy Says:

I’ve gotten a recipe from a book for cookies that I tend to make during the Christmas season. But, I’ve never really visited anywhere I read about in a book. And I’ve never started a tradition I found in a book either.
YAY! Summer books! Now that’s something to celebrate.

We visit Savannah and always eat at the Six Pence. In the movie Something to Talk About one of the scenes was shot there. Kind of fun. They had to move that bench Forest Gump sat on from the move. Caused traffic jams. And that bird girl from Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is now in a museum, I think. Way too many traffic jams. Savannh is such fun.

Bravas to me are usually great summer reads, especially if there about those Bad Boys. Summer and bad boys just seem to go together…like winter and bad boys, and spring…

I don’t really have any summer traditions, other than now the 3rd annual Lori Foster/Dianne Castell Get-Together! Woo hoo! Other than that, I just like to be outdoors as much as possible, preferrably reading by the pool with a cool drink nearby. Still not sure if I’m going to RWA this year - we’ll see.

I love summer themed books all year long. When I am reading a book I am were the characters are so I love a hot beach on a cold winters day. I love Christmas books all year long also. I do try to read only Christmas themed books in the months of November and December, helps put me in the mood.

BTW I have always wanted to go to Italy. You know that fantasy vacation. When I read SEP’s “Breathing Room” it made it that much worse.

  7. Susan Says:

I just started reading ‘Stroke of Midnight’ by Carly Phillips, Janelle Denison and Jacquie D’Alessandro that is set during Christmas and New Years. That’s okay though because we are still getting frost here at night.

  8. Cryna Says:

I read books all year long, and it doesn’t matter to me what the season is in the book, I just usually just get into the story whenever it is. Although it is nice to read a book from somewhere warm when the weather outside is freezing and cold, and you can transport yourself to there in the book……….

  9. Dianne Castell Says:

Hey, Cryna won the tote bag!
thanks to you all for posting.
Let me know if you find any of those summer reads you really really enjoy.
    Hugs, Dianne
