This is my first Man Cover
Look, my very own hunk for my November 2007 book! Pretty cool for a Man Cover Virgin, huh?
Well I did have a man on my first book DATING CAN BE MURDER:
The only problem there is the guy was DEAD. That works for a mystery, but not a sexy romantic mystery. Dead is so NOT sexy, right?
Men are really popular on covers. My sister and I were in a book store last week, and we were picking out men on covers that we thought were hot. We were just playing around (although both of us ended up buying a stack of books) but it got me thinking, would a MAN on a cover get me to buy a book?
No.
However it would get me to pick up the book off the shelf and take a look. But we all know, looks don’t last. What counts is what’s INSIDE the book.
Just an aside here: The most unusual title I’ve had on any of my books is NINJA SOCCER MOMS. The Extraordinary Editor, Kate Duffy, came up with that. I got quite a few emails from fans telling me they picked up the book because of the title.
But back to MEN. So what about you? Does a hot guy get you to pick up a book? Or am I just that shallow????
I will definitely pick up the book with a hot guy on the cover, but the content is what’s going to make me buy it.
Well for those who know me, I do have this slight, slight thing for Nathan Kamp – he’s on Lori Foster’s Wildly Winston- so yeah, I have no problem w/ those guy covers. Normally I would say I that it takes much more than the cover to get me to buy the book, but I bought Lori’s book for 2 reasons: I was getting all 4 Winstons together (I’d already read them) and I got to take Nathan home with me LOL.
Hot guy on cover doesn’t hurt. But not the only reason to buy the book.

It might be enough to get me to pick a book up, but like the others have said what’s inside is what’s most important.
A hot guy on the cover always gets my attention, but it is never enough to make me buy the book. I only buy books that I think that I will enjoy, the hot guy is just a bonus.
Dru, I once picked up a book that had a cover with a hot guy on the beach. I wandered around with the book in my hand and finally read the back cover copy. Ooops! It was a gay love story. Not exactly what I was looking for!

Sue, I agree with you, I buy by favorite authors first. But on days when I just get to browse, hot guys get my attention
Toni, exactly–while the hot guys might snag our attention, it’s the book that will (hopefully!) keep our attention to the very last word.

The cover is great. But, I may look at the cover, it’s really the content that will make me buy it! (per the synopsis on the back.)
I’m with everyone else – it gets you to pick it up but that at least is a good start.
Ooooo…..good looking guy, yes definitely a magnet for me. I am also into great art work on a cover. I also have my favorite authors so it doesn’t matter what is on the cover. Bright colors such as pink, red, and yellow also lure me. You should see my bookshelf where I keep all the books I save. It is a rainbow of colors! I love it!

A hot guy on the cover does get my attention, but the blurb is what makes me decide whether or not to buy.
Jill Shalvis has a very hot guy on the cover of her latest book, Shadow Hawk!
I am like the rest a hot guy on the cover will get my attention, but generally it is the blurb or the author itself that will get me to actually buy the book.
Well, I’ll say this much…that guy is EXTREMELY hot. And that can *never* hurt!
