Do any of you know that old Mamas and Papas song? I’m not actualy sure that’s the title, because I always get titles of songs wrong. In fact I’ve lost more bets to my husband on song titles then I should probably admit to.
But I do love music and since I’ve just started a new project I’ve been working on a new playlist in iTunes. I have to say I LOVE iTunes.
Here are a few of the songs that I’ve recently discovered that I love: Suddenly I See by KT Tunstall. I’m probably the only person in the U.S. that hated her other song the one about Cherry Tree. But I love Suddenly I See. It works really well for my heroine in the MIP because she’s kind of blinded by her perceptions.
Another song that I love is Hate Me by Blue October. There is so much angst in the song I can hardly stand it. I’m dying to use that song as the backstory for one of my heroes. Of course, I haven’t figured out how to do that yet!
So what about you? What songs do you love or hate? I have two copies of Lori Foster’s Jude’s Law that I’m offering as prizes today.

One of my favorite songs right now is Wasted by Carrie Underwood.
Crystal; I don’t think I’ve ever listened to any of Carrie Underwood’s songs. I think I heard snippets of Jesus Takes the Wheel at the Grammys. What do you like about Wasted?
Kathy
I like how the song talks about not wasting time on lost causes and to move on to more positive situations.
Two of my favorite songs are (1) Irreplaceable by Beyonce (2) Walkaway by I don’t know the name of the artist.
Crystal–I can see why that song would appeal. I’m going to have to download it!
Teresa–I love Beyonce. I like that song Crazy in Love.
I also like Corrine Rae Bailey’s Put Your Records On.

My current favorite songs are Anna Nalick’s “Breathe (2 am)”, because (to me) the lyrics are just so
thought provoking. It is about the things that life throws at us and how we can’t always change them, but we can learn to deal with them. The chorus says, “You can’t jump the track, we’re like cars on a cable and life’s like an hourglass glued to the table. No one can find the rewind button, girl. So just cradle your head in your hands..and breathe.” If you watch “Grey’s Anatomy”, it is the song that was playing when Kyle Chandler’s character was killed in the bomb explosion.
She also does another song, “Wreak of the Day” that is pretty awesome, too.
My other favorites are Hinder, “Lips of an Angel” and 3 Days Grace, “Animal I Have Become ” because they remind me of a very good friend and some stuff they are dealing with that I am trying to help them through. Next to books, music is one thing I don’t think I could ever live without.
Angie–I like that Anna Nalick song too–Breathe. I haven’t heard Wreak of the Day but I’m going to check it out on iTunes when I get my next break!
I like the Hinder song too and haven’t heard that 3 Days Grace one.
I’m the same way with books and music. I always have some kind of song playing in my head. When I’m sleeping, when I wake up, when I’m writing. I love music, for a while I thought I’d be a professional musician–in orchestras but I couldn’t handle the rejection.

It is funny but when I am in funk I love to listen to tunes from when I was a teenager. The other day I was listening to “Tainted Lovc” by Soft Cell and it really lifted my spirits up. Talk about a one hit wonder. I also thought of another oldie when I was making some pina coladas for hubby and me. Anybody remember The Pina Colada Solng. Forgot who sang it but it went along the lines of “If you love pina coladas and getting caught in the rain…” I like Monday Mnday by the Mamas and the Papas as well.
I love Tainted Love. I learned all the words to that song at summer camp when I was in 7th grade. I also like the pina coloda song. I really groove out to anything from the 80s. I loved Culture Club and when I’m feeling funky I put them on. My husband and I embarrass our kids by singing to the 80s channel in the car. My daughter (14) says as only as teenager can…the windows are down, mom!

I have difficulty with titles of songs sometimes too. I had to go to youtube to hear Suddenly I See to make sure it was the song I was thinking of.
It was. I love some many songs. It really depends on my mood as to what I want to hear. Nothing Left to Lose by Mat Kearney is a fav right now along with Waiting on the World to Change by John Mayer and Fidelity by Regina Spektor. I also have a whole list of country songs and other songs. I also love Hate Me by Blue October and when I first heard it I couldn’t understand why I loved it. Music has a way to make you feel better.
I still love ‘Young Love’ by Sonny James: about a true, first love. Makes one remember their much younger years.
I love Conway Twitty’s singing: his song ‘Hello Darlin’ makes me cry but I love that song(I remember hearing it one a.m. on my way to church and I just balled-I was going through a divorce at the time).
Roy Orbison’s Pretty Woman is so upbeat and I love that one.
I love Cher and Peter Cetera’s After All and Faith Hill and Tim McGraw duet, name escapes me at the moment.
I love ‘Wicked Game’ by Chris Isaak
Other songs that’s also great: ‘If Everyone Cared’ by Nickelback and ‘Through Glass’ by Stone Sour.
Okay, I am going to name to old songs. First is To Dance With My Father, by Luther Vandross, love him and love his music, it is so sad to think that there will be no more music by him. The second is Angel Eyes, by The Jeff Healy Band. This song reminds my of high school and sitting with my best friends on the back of an old truck in the summer trying to decide what we were going to do when we grow up. And I absolutely love any song by Kenny Chesney. Love his voice.
You guys are naming so many of my favorite songs. I love Kenny Chesney and not just because he’s so ripped! I cry every time I hear that Luther Vandross song. It’s so sweet and sad.
Wicked Games has to be one of the sexiest songs I’ve ever heard and the video was yummy.
I love Roy Orbison…Pretty Woman is one of my favorites. My daughter and I dance around the living room whenever it comes on.
John Mayer is such a good song writer. I have two of his CDs and each song is so well done. I like the insight he has into life.
My winners are Angie T and Patty L. Drop me an email at kathy@katherinegarbera.com with your snail mail address.

Thank you for the pick. I am so excited. I just sent you my addy. Have a great evening. WHOO HOO!!!!
I love the Mamas and Papas. But my favorite are Simon and Garfunkel - any song. My husband and I have “our” song which is “Never my Love” by the Association. I’m definitely dating myself lol but we’ve been married almost 38 years. oops too late but what the heck lol.
I am a country music fan and an artist that has written many romance songs is Vince Gil
Congrats, ladies. I cant get much closer than winning, Patty L. Still gives me a chuckle to see my name there and it is not me. LOL.
Thanks everyone for chatting about music with me. I had to go to a basketball banquet for my daughter last night. It was very nice, very sophisticated compared to middle school banquets. It was kind of fun, kind of scary as I realized my freshman daughter only had three more years of this stuff. UGH! I’m getting old.
