Sorry! I got wrapped up in work and totally forgot my post on Monday!!
How did you all enjoy THE SEX ON THE BEACH BOOK CLUB?

Then, what should we read next? Book Club #3 will be a historical, a new one by Katherine O’Neal — THE ART OF SEDUCTION (Feb. 07 Brava). Just an FYI, in case that affects what you’d like to pick this week as Book Club selection #2.
As will be the usual, one of this week’s participants will receive a free copy of the Book Club Selection, whatever we pick.
And, as this late post so aptly demonstrates, I may be behind the times occasionally, so I offer the subscription service below. You can sign up to be notified when a Book Club post goes up!

I haven’t read that book. It’s actually been a while since I read a historical. I’ll have to check it out.
I want to have in our book club reviews of “Hit Hard by Amy J. Fetzer”. Based on the storyline it a had action/romance.
Here’s the blurb I found on the book since I have not read it:At the Great Exposition of 1889 in Paris, the last artistic works of Mason Caldwell, an American painter whose savage rejection by the art world resulted in her suicide, are to be unveiled, crystallizing Mason’s reputation and leaving her estate the wealthier for it. One small problem: Mason Caldwell is very much alive. Art expert Richard Garrett suspects something is amiss with the Mason Caldwell myth, but he is captivated by the dead artist’s haunting paintings–particularly a sensual self-portrait fiercely guarded by her sister, Amy. Now, as Richard strives to uncover the truth, he and Mason engage in a cat-and-mouse game that takes them deep into a world of passion and peril…
I enjoyed THE SEX ON THE BEACH BOOK CLUB. I liked the whole mystery thing.
Favorite line(s): “Holly turned around and felt a slap of lust that could have been straight out of a romance novel (2).” For some reason that line made me chuckle and smile and stuck in my head.
“You’re overthinking this. The way this works is you have something on your mind, you tell me what it is. Because I’m a man, I’ll try to fix it. Then you’ll get mad at me because you don’t want me to fix it. You’re capable of fixing it yourself (234).” I liked this passage as well…described the charcters of Holly and Wes…he knew her very well.
Favorite scene: I loved the opening scene where Holly and Wes meet and Holly participates in the bookclub. I loved how the book they were discussing was one of the author’s other books, “Wicked” Women Whodunit. The whole discussion definitely piqued my interest and made me want to try and find that book somewhere. The discussion over the book also gave me an idea of the type of people Holly and Wes were. Their opinions reflected their personality.
As for the next bookclub selection…Since we just read a mystery book and we have a historical coming up…how about something a bit lighter (even though this one had humor, it was still suspenseful at times)…How about an anthology of some kind? Maybe a Bad Boys book or VALENTINE’S DAY IS KILLING ME (since that is coming up). I am up for and open to anything as long as it is still available (not out of print).
When will you announce what book is next? Just wondering in case I have to get it.
I haven’t read the book so far, but I will add it to my Tbb list. The book sounds really good
I liked The Sex on the Beach Book Club. It was a very enjoyable mystery and romance. I liked how Holly and Wes’ relationship went from lust to passion.
I like the scene where Holly and Wes were attempting to have sex and her brothers interrupted them. She tried so hard to get rid of them. That was too funny.
That was a good scene Dru Ann. I loved how Holly got revenge on them by signing them up for different e-mail newsletters.
I loved that Jennifer used Wicked Women Whodunit!! That cracked me up. *g*
I’m pretty sure Bravas never go out of the print, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
What about All Through the Night? Would y’all be interested in that? Lots of great authors in it.
That sounds like a good one. I haven’t read it and don’t have a copy…you picked one Brava that isn’t waiting in Mount Brava in TBR Mountain
. I’ll have to try and find it…when will we discuss it?
I admit that I bought Sex on the Beach, but I haven’t had time to read it. Life’s been crazy. However, it is on the top of my pile.
“All Through the Night” looks good. Any excuse to add another book to the pile…
Thanks to Sylvia, I got my own copy of The Sex on the Beach Book Club to read. I read the book within 24 hours. The book kept my interest and the pace of the story was great. It wasn’t just a murder mystery, but a book looking at three dimensional characters and their relationships with each other.
Favorite line: “Stop that right now. In this office, we don’t cry over dumb-ass men! You can throw something, call him names, or just be damned glad the bloodsucker is out of your life, but we don’t cry.”
Favorite scene: I liked the scene towards the end when a gun is fired and someone starts screaming. Holly’s not sure who’s screaming at first and worries if she herself had screamed, because it would be so embarassing if she had even though she’d just been shot.
I enjoyed the characterization of Holly, a tomboy who grew up competing with her brothers. Only to become a cop like all the males in her family. But because of an incident while on duty she was forced to find her own path and redefine what it was to be a woman in her own eyes (and not in her mother’s eyes), and also in the eyes of men in her life.
>What about All Through the Night? Would y’all be interested in that? Lots of great authors in it.
I like that choice for Book Club selection #2, as I already have the book, but haven’t read it yet.
That is a great line Sue! There were several good lines in the book.
K, so we’ll go with All Through the Night!
Jennifer Y. will receive the complimentary copy for this book club.
Jennifer, email me your addy (I know I have it somewhere, but would be faster if you send it again! *g*) and I’ll have the book sent to you.
The book club meets in February on Monday the 5th, and again on Wednesday the 21st! We already know what we’re reading on the 5th, so think ahead to what you might like to read for Book Club #4.
Thank you so much Sylvia!
This book was a terrific read.
I think my favourite scene: Wes & Holly were in the kitchen. Wes was doing his best not to laugh.
The favourite line was: “Uh, no one under forty wears pantyhose Hillbaby.”
“Shut up, book boy.” She turned to walk toward the door and muttered, “What the hell do people wear to engagement parties?”
Okay I have checked out the next read and Chapters close to me has one copy of it, which I am going to phone and see if they really do have it and if they do have them hold it for me.
Fun read, lots of wit.
Favorite Line: “knock it off Brockman. I’m not a Barbie girl. I can open my own door.”
Bring on the next book!
I’ll have to get this book and start reading in a hurry. It was on my ‘buy list’ already.
Big congrats Jennifer!
