Now that it’s getting to be Halloween I thought I’d ask because I happen to live in a haunted house and, no, I have not been smoking anything. We have slamming cabinets, doors closing, books sliding, things moved, voices when no one’s there. It’s been so bad a few times I went to the top of the stairs and yelled, “Who’s there?” My daughter’s room is the worse with lights and cool spots. I’m letting Rosemary Laurey sleep there on Saturday. Since she writes vampires this shouldn’t bother her one bit.
My daughter went to art school in Savannah, the most haunted city in the USA, and stayed in a really old apartment building. One day she could not find her drafting pencil, looked everywhere and finally found it in the bottom of an old art box she hadn’t opened for months. From then on her pencil always went missing and she always found it in that very place. She hand an artsy-fartsy ghost.
Ask anyone who lives in Savannah and they have a ghost story to share. When we stay at this B&B the ghosts love to play with our cell phone and alarm clock. I’m getting ready to start a trilogy and I’m setting it in Savannah and I had the owners of the Pirate House take me on a tour of his restaurant…the oldest building in Savannah. RL Stevenson wrote Treasure Island there. The inn where the map was found was taken off the Pirate House. The help had some great ghost stories to tell. One involved blueberry pie flying across the room.
Has anyone ever messed with a ouija board or been to a séance? Maybe a psychic? When I was first married we went to this restaurant and the waitress dabbled in palm reading. Said I’d have 4 kids and be a writer…the only thing I was writing at the time was checks. Very strange how she knew.
Have any of you had “feelings” that something would happen and it did. This never happens to me. I never know what’s going on. But I do get vibes from people. Some good, some downright scary.
Soooo, what about you all??does anyone have ghosts in their house? Stories to share? Get out the pumpkins and witches hats…it’s time for Halloween!

Hi Dianne,
we have a ghost living with us for several years now. During the last couple of days he became more active. You wondering why I know that the ghost is a he, the ghost loves to touch my hip and butt. It’s really strange but it’s true. He even moved with us nine years ago.
i do believe, it is scary
I believe in ghosts. My daughter (who is now ten) had an imaginary friend named Lowy. I assumed this was normal and paid attention until she would tell us about things that she shouldn’t know. After about a year Lowy went to live in the woods and we thought she would be gone for good. However, when my son was one (he’s 7 now) Lowy became his friend. This really puzzled my husband and I and we worried about our kids sanity. One day he said that Lowy told him that he did not need her anymore and that she was going back to the woods. I was relieved that she/it was gone and we only talk about her at Halloween. But in a strange twist of fate, my neice who is 4, stayed with us for a weekend and when she went home, all she could talk about was Lowy and that she could not wait to come back to my house, so that they could play again. Lowy has never hurt the kids, and she is apparently very patient with them. My kids don’t remember her, but my neice still sees her.
Wow, Patty, what a neat story. I’ve heard of this sort of thing before. A friend’s grandmother came back when the kids were little and they said things that had to come from the grandmother. Incredible.
I agree, Kim, it is scary!
Danny, you have a very fun gost!

Dianne,
the problem is he started with throwing things, especially in the middle of the night, switching lights on or off etc. It gets a little bit scary
I believe in ghosts. We lived in a house, for a short time, when my children were smaller, that my Mom and Dad’s dog, who loved the kids would not come into the house. She was in the house once and could not get out of it fast enough. This is the same house that my husband went into the basement numerous times to check noises coming from there. A couple of times he swore that something passed him on the steps. I never experienced any of this while living there, but both my husband and daughter kept telling me of incidents. We lived in the house about 6 months, and I sighed a sigh of relief when we moved.
Nothing out of the ordinary here.
Oh this gives me chills. No ghosts where I live - I think I’d be afraid to go to sleep. I hope Rosemary enjoys her roommate.
Oh Dianne, I believe. In the house that I grew up in my Mom, Dad and Grandmother used to tell several stories that happened there and all with deceased family members.
My Uncle and Aunt, also told of seeing my Grandmother in her house after her death for about 6-8 months. They had moved into the house after her passing.
My daughter also tells of an incident the night before my MIL’s funeral. My daughter spent the night at the house by herself (she was 18 at the time), because she was sick w/strep throat and my Mother’s house was too cold for her. So while she was sleeping she was awakened by the lights in different rooms turning on and off. She said this kept up for about a half an hour. Finally, she called out to her Grandparents’ and told them she loved them, but they needed to stop, she was sick and needed her rest. After that, the lights blicked on one more time and then stopped.
The weirdest thing happened the next day too. My SIL couldn’t find a watch that my MIL wanted my daughter to have. My daughter piped up and told her exactly where to look. My daughter would have never known where unless my MIL hadn’t told her.
So yeah, I believe.

There are strange noises in our house all the time. At first I kept looking for the reason and now I just accept them. Whenever anyone asks I just say the ghosts must be restless.
Yep - I’m a believer! When I was 9 yrs. old my parents rented an old house for us to live in while we were waiting for our new house to be built. The house was bad…sinister more like it. My poor little diaries from that time are quite frantic. There was never a time that I didn’t feel watched when I was in that house! There was one room in particular that we just shut off completely because it was so evil. It was complete with creepy basement, long and dark hallways, closets secretly adjoined with hidden door. It was so bad that we were supposed to stay there for 6 months, but we moved out within 3 months and moved into our new house while the outside was still Celotex and the floors were still plywood.
It gets a little weirder. I am in the 7th grade and I met a new girl and her and I are talking about 7th grade stuff and somehow we talk about haunted houses…I believe it was October…anyhow, she starts talking about how her house is haunted and I tell her about this haunted house that I used to live in. Anyhow, we quickly figured out that we were talking about the same house…CREEPY! She ended up staying overnight at my house a lot…consequently, I never stayed all night at her house.
And that’s my ghost story…even though I never actually saw a ghost…there was a presence and it was not a happy one.
Wow, these are wonderful stories…and very scary. I think people don’t believe until something happens and then there’s no question something strange is going on that simply cannot be explained.
Thanks for sharing!
Hugs, Dianne
Yes I believe too. We have one that likes to play with checks. 3 or 4 times now we will put a check on our stereo to be taken to the bank and a day later it will be gone. We look high and low for it, even behind the stereo. Then, a week later it will turn up behind the stereo.
Also, my husband says whenever I go on vacation with my mom our t.v. won’t work. It will just be snow.
Also, I remember an incident right after we moved in. I went to bed a little early and fell asleep. I woke up suddenly, (I don’t know why)and looked to side of the bed and a man was standing there. I blinked my eyes and he was gone. I hollered for my husband. He came in and asked what I wanted. I said, “Were you just standing next to my bed?” He said no that he was watching t.v. I asked him, “Are you sure you weren’t just in here?” He said no he wasn’t. I told him that there was a man standing next to my bed. The man looked old and was all white, kind of transparent looking. I had to reassure myself that it wasn’t my husband, but now I know it had to be a ghost.
