Shannon McKenna grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, deep in the Oregon mountains and very far from any civilizing influence. She spent an inordinate time in her girlhood lying around in secluded places reading steamy romance novels. It is a great satisfaction to her that what her family thought of as frivolous, bon-bon eating sloth can now, in fact, be defined as meticulous research for her future career. Hah. So there.
Before becoming an author, she made her living (so to speak) as a singer in New York, singing in folk bands, medieval ensembles, Renaissance music, back-up for struggling alternative pop bands, church gigs, weddings, funerals, everything she could think of to make the rent. Cocktail waitressing, Christmas carolling in malls dressed in a Dickens outfit, madrigals and folk tunes at the Renaissance Faire, to say nothing of all the temping. Ah, her wild youth. Then she moved to Italy, for love—see her website for more details—and took up writing steamy novels.
Sometimes she misses the noise and the chaos—the computer is such a quiet office-mate. But now she has a toddler to run around after. That’s enough noise and chaos for her.
“Shannon McKenna is a refreshing talent who brings spark to her genre.”
